Quick decision: New Ark. Lottery chief recommends Powerball
I don't agree with $2 tickets. PB has that now with an optional $1 for the multiplier. Hiking the basic ticket price to $2 would mean $3 total if you wanted multiplier. I think multiplier revenue would drop like a lead balloon then. That's the only way I'd want to see MM go, keep it at $1 and have an optional $1 for a multiplier.

Texas Joins Mega Million with Megaplier
The whole reason TX is starting MM with a multiplier is because of the research that came out regarding PB and PP. If a state begins a jackpot game and then later adds on an extra multiplier, customers think of the game as a $1 game with an option. However, if, as in SC, the jackpot game begins WITH the multiplier in place, customers automatically think of it as a $2 game. TX knows that by starting with multiplier, their take will be larger than if it added it later. It's all about the $$$$.

UPDATE: Proposed changes to Mega Millions game will raise ticket price to $5
Actually, now that the multiplier will be a part of every lottery ticket purchase, it is mathematically possible for California to do it.
To do so, they would allocate a certain percentage of sales to each prize level, just like they do today. But to determine what each winning ticket would be worth, they would divide the prize pool by the total number of multiplied prizes available instead of the total number of winning tickets.
So imagine there were only two winners of a particular pri

Do You Play the Multiplier Option?
I always play the multiplier option. In PB or Mega, I always hope to get the 4 WB + PB(MB) as my main win and that prize is best in the PB over Mega. Of course Mega has PB beat on the 5-0 prize with multiplier. But using the multiplier has helped me to win back more of my losses when I am lucky enough to get the PB(MB) or perhaps one or two of the WBs. I have been lucky enough to get the 10x multiplier in PB a couple of times. I probably recklessly spent $90 on the Tuesday Mega, but got the #25

what would u do if u win the mega million tonight
I won't have to worry about winning tonight's jackpot any more. I spent $11 and got $10 back. I bought 5 tickets with multiplier, and 1 without. I made $8 on 4x multiplier gold ball, and $2 on non-multiplier gold ball. Had I played multiplier on both tickets, it would have been $16, and I would have made $5 instead of losing $1. I will always use the multiplier from now on. Even on a small win, it can at least make your money back. Sad to say this is the best I have done on this game, but it rai

Rework the Lower Tier Prizes for MM & PB.
Although this thread is not about buying The PowerPlay, I thought I'd add something I recently learned about the money involved with it. As we all know, the x2 multiplier is most frequently drawn . (The multiplier is not drawn, it's created by a Random Number Generator - a computer program) For jackpots less than 150 million dollars, the PowerPlay number can be as high as 10x. But that's only happened four times in the 451 drawings held since 10/7/2015. That's because there are only two 10x mult

Matrix change: Powerball to get much harder to win?
I don't really want it to change either. I would be happy to win even the minimum jackpot. I think it's hard enough. Of course one must ask themselves if there will also be the same multiplier numbers. Who knows, the prizes for 5+0 matches could go from:
$200,000(No PowerPlay)
$400,000(PowerPlay + Multiplier 2)
$600,000(PowerPlay + Multiplier 3)
$800,000(PowerPlay + Multiplier 4)
$1,000,000(PowerPlay + Multiplier 5)
TO
$500,000(No PowerPlay)
$1,000,000(PowerPlay + Multiplier 2)

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
With Powerball you rarely get 10x and most often the multiplier is 2x.
