Scratcher Help
Not every state uses those 3 letter codes.Iowa used to use them but people would buy those scratch off tickets that took forever to play, like Bingo Crosswords, and just scratch the codes off of them.Since they didn't know the code for the big winners, like $25,000,they just threw the ticket away.Enough prizes went unclaimed that Iowa quit using the codes.Other states have done the same thing.

Clash over $1 million lottery ticket outlives buyer
Actually, Rip, the prize codes on MA scratch tickets are not on the back - they're imbedded in the playfield on the front. After a few plays most players know where the codes are located on each ticket and can (if they want) just scratch those parts of the ticket which contain them.

A doubt on scratch tkts
When I go to encash a winning scratch lotto ticket, what the retailer does is he scans a bar code on the back of the ticket (There are 2 bar codes, one for POS and another one for checking if its a winning ticket) and then you hear the music and it displays winner.......etc . Now my doubt is, if finding out the winning ticket is so simple as to scan the bar code on the back, how do we know that the retailer has not already scanned all the bar codes of all the tickets he has for selling and tha

retailer on long island tries to scam 1 mil
Yep! Yep! One does have to watch some of those Store Clerks, especially here in New Jersey where I am. One incident I've personally experienced when buying scratch-offs was the clerk after opening a new package of scratch offs, didn't validate them or key the package code numbers in on the lottery machine before selling them. Low and behold I bought one of them, but did not scratch it off until I got home. It turned out to be worth $50.00 so, I decided to redeem it at another store. Surely enoug

Man Picks $1 Million Lottery Ticket Out Of Trash
I wouldn't be surprised if the person who actually bought the ticket only scratched the validation area only. Here in NY, scratch games have a bar code on the back, a 4-digit validation code that is revealed when the entire play area is scratched, and 3 validation letters that are scattered around the play area. These validation letters can also be used to determine the prize value if there is one. For example, O-N-E ($1), T-W-O ($2), F-O-R ($4), F-I-V ($5), T-E-N ($10), T-W-N ($20), F-T-Y ($50)

Scratch off codes
Hi! I know that the codes on the tickets differ from state to state, but I still have yet to find a 'good' site that offers at least the ones through $500, as most are known. But I have a FWR in Indiana, and I thought it was 'forty', but it's a bingo, cherry tripler, and I can seem to find anything on this? Also, Indiana, most ..(I say MOST), winning tickets do indeed have a 'faint' line in-between where the 'tear off' is. So, I have won many times this way. No guarantee of a jackpot, but at lea

N.C. woman gets surprise lottery gift from brother
Ohio's scratch-off tickets require the bar codes be scratched clean too before the terminal can tell if they are winners.

Been Playing Scratch Offs But Fear I Have Been Throwing Winnings Away...
I just read this old post.... Do you think some jackpots get tossed and never claimed ? i.e someone who only checks the code buys one and tosses it out when they scratch a losing code ? Wasnt that the case on a Gold Rush ticket a few years ago, where a homeless guy found the $500K winner in the trash ? Maybe its the reason they dont publish info on all winners .. What in the world is this post about? With scratch offs you simply match number to number. What is this about
