OhioSuperLoto 649P $23M... 04/12/03
RJ:Even though I don't live near Ohio, I took the survey.I'm in favor of either proposal to add the multiplier; I often utilize the PowerPlay option for Powerball. PowerPlay ADDS to the Powerball game because if you win a non-jackpot prize, it's multiplied; whereas Kicker has nothing to do with Ohio Lotto. If Ohio wants to change its Lotto to be like Winfall , fine; but eliminate the Kicker .

Mega Millions getting boring
RJ: My proposal has BETTER odds of winning _any_ prize, since there are 49 Mega Balls vs 52. Adding three numbers on the top makes the jackpot odds longer. (There would still be 104 balls.)

Picking your Mega Millions #'s(follow up to previous posts)
Bradly: Although Ohio (IMHO) needs to replace its Lotto more than MI does, it would be a good idea to change the name of MICHIGAN Millions. I had heard of a proposal to replace the MI and Illinois lotto games with a regional game (like Lotto South).

Growing number of states move to shield lottery winners
A growing number of states are moving to allow the winners of big lottery jackpots to stay anonymous as privacy concerns are increasingly trumping lottery groups' wishes to publicize winners to boost sales and show that the games are fair. Arizona could be the next state to join at least nine others with laws that let winners keep their names secret under a proposal headed to Republican Gov. Doug Ducey. Four years ago, just five states allowed anonymous winners, and a handful of others allowe

Georgia Gov. to support casino bill if lottery not impacted
Georgia Governor Nathan Deal said Tuesday he won't oppose legislation that would legalize casino gambling as long as it doesn't devastate the state's popular lottery-funded HOPE scholarship program. We need to be absolutely certain that if a casino bill passes, it doesn't adversely impact a lottery program for the state, he said. That is the first big marker to make sure that we don't devastate what is probably perceived as the most successful lottery program in the country. The governor

Alabama lottery vote on shaky ground in Senate
The Alabama Senate started debate Wednesday on whether to allow residents to vote on a constitutional amendment to establish a lottery, but adjourned for the day without a vote on the proposal. The outlook for both plans from Gov. Robert Bentley and State Sen. Jim McClendon, R-Springville, remains bleak. We're still putting the pieces together, McClendon said after Wednesday's sessions adjourned. I'm not ready to bury it yet. He gave his bill, which differs from Bentley's in that it would

Odds not in favor of Alabamians voting on a lottery this year
Leadership in the Alabama Senate says there's less than a coin flip's chance a lottery bill passes the upper chamber this year. Polls show the people of Alabama want to vote on whether to create a lottery. But, many senators say they want to make sure the right proposal goes before the people and they haven't seen it yet. Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh was asked if any of the current lottery proposals stand a chance this year. I'd give them about a 40 percent chance, said Marsh. I

Union fights effort to privatize Pa. Lottery
The union that represents Pennsylvania Lottery employees is fighting Gov. Corbett's move to privatize its operations. With a day to go until the private company's offer is set to expire, AFSCME Council 13 is waging a strong counterattack against outsourcing the profitable lottery in the courtroom, the Statehouse, and the streets. This week, a particularly edgy some might consider over-the-top billboard appeared near the Capitol, skewering the British firm that is the sole bidder for the lo

Lawsuit filed to pull lottery off Arkansas ballot
A group opposing a state-run lottery asked the Arkansas Supreme Court on Friday to throw the proposal off this fall's ballot. The Arkansas Family Council argued in a petition filed with the state's highest court that the proposed constitutional amendment's title and name should be found inaccurate, incomplete and misleading because they don't define lotteries and doesn't warn voters of potential consequences of authorizing a state-run lottery. The proposal leaves it up to the Legislature to w
