Missouri Lottery changing games Monday
Missouri Lottery players will get a new numbers game Monday, but also lose one. Show Me Cash, a daily on-line drawing, is set to begin Monday when the twice-daily and struggling Show Me 5 Paydown game goes out of business. Lottery spokesman Gary Gonder said the new Pick 5-style game would offer players bigger jackpots and better odds of winning. The top prize in every Paydown drawing was a tax-free, lump sum $50,000. But if no player won that prize, cash trickled down to increase the a

Could any of you help me?
Most of the questions asked are things I have responded to in polls on this website before or in other discussions, so I see no harm in it. It is no more personal than information I've already divulged under this id. 1. How long have you been buying lottery tickets? Off and on since Washington State started selling them. I believe that was around 1983 or 1984. 2. Where do you buy lottery tickets? Do you always buy them at the same place? Usually where I buy my groceries or my gas. 3. Ho

Could any of you help me?
Hi everybody, I am an undergraduate Anthropology major at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. I'm doing a project about lottery tickets for my Anthropology of Money class and I was hoping some of you could answer some questions for me. The project is about how people use money and give it meaning outside of a strictly economic sense, looking at money from a social aspect. You can answer some or all of the questions, or if you would just like to speak about your experinces with lo

N.D. Lottery wrestles with credit card buying options
OK, here we go: Coin Toss, can you tell me why you think your chances are worse? I realize the odds change when even 1 number is added, but I kept my 6 numbers when FL changed from a 6/49 game to a 6/53 game and don't remember any announcements about advanced plays being invalid. Granted the odds are astronimical to begin with, but, the following would make an intereting court case. A lottery ticket is a contract, at least of sorts (I'm sure some legal breagle here on LP can expo

Conditional Feedback
Back on 2007-10-28 @ 15:39 ET, I posted a modified graph that was presented at the beginning of a Lottery Post News story; the News post was Tenn. players picked up on new odds before lottery revealed glitch. In it I had shown a possible trigger date of Aug 6; since then I have decided on the date of Aug 8. The following graph is from that Lottery Post News story and will be necessary for part of the theories I'll write about next. One of the theories I have been thinking about was the po

Indiana lottery players still hunting year-old jackpot
Lottery Post noted for raising awareness More than a year has fallen off the calendar since someone last claimed a Hoosier Lotto jackpot, an unprecedented drought that's raising eyebrows in addition to fueling ticket sales and pushing tonight's grand prize to a record $53.5 million. I just am stunned, said Mike Krueger, a regular Hoosier Lotto player from Whiting. And a lot of other Lottery players and the people at the stores where I play are like, 'Why hasn't it been hit?' Is somet

S.C. Lottery Director: Profit losses leveling off
Sales of South Carolina lottery tickets initially sank as gas prices climbed, but customers seem to have gotten used to paying more at the pump, the state's lottery director said Wednesday. When gas prices climbed above $3 a gallon after Hurricane Katrina, lottery sales at South Carolina gas stations fell sharply, probably because customers felt that they had less pocket change after filling up. But a sample survey of retailers shows convenience store sales have since leveled, director Ernie

Massachusetts lottery causes may have historical precidence
After predicting this week that three modest-sized resort casinos would generate between $400 million and $450 million in tax revenues, Massachusetts Governor Patrick said, We will dedicate that revenue to improving transportation and to reducing property taxes . . . by investing casino tax revenue in refurbishing and expanding our transportation systems, we accelerate the growth of economic opportunities in every region, we ensure the safety of our roadways and bridges, and we address effect
