Ohio Lottery panel rejects new Gov.'s call for smaller prizes
Yes the higher the payout percentage the higher the excitement and the higher the revenues. Sometimes though when you have a high payout percentage and all that money goes to super inflated jackpots a lot of little people dont realize the higher percentages. Not every scratch off game needs to have million dollar payouts. That is where I think these lotteries get wacky. Let the online games have the huge payout of millions and tens of millions. Let the scratch off games have reduced life changin

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
I'm sure the winner is not complaining, but I also bet part of him wishes it had rolled from the previous drawing, which would have made it close to 300 million. I believe for 15 mil, one could play another lottery game. I play powerball or megamillions for their mega jackpots, however, the jackpots never seem to grow as large as they used to a year or two ago. What are the odds someone wins two weeks in a row? I think they need to add another number or two to get the game exciting again.

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
Coin Toss,
Years ago when OhioSuper Lotto was generating jackpots of $40-$75M and people from surrounding states would cross the boarder to play, some one decided to limit each winning ticket to $20M and many people stopped playing and the game never recovered. PowerBall have a similar rule when its jackpot reaches a record amount but that is so high that it's unlikely to happen more than a few times during a lifetime. As you pointed out, most people will not make $10M in their lifetime but b

powerball hit
Yep. Ever since they added 54 and 55 to the game, the PowerBall has been getting some pretty nice jackpots.

Missing The $200m-$300m Jackpots
Please clarify what you mean by over the last 7 draws in MM, sales were $112. Big Jackpots were produced from jackpots that had $116 in sales at this point.
Are you saying that because the low sales over the last 7 draws are an indicator that a large jackpot is out of reach?

Buying Quick Picks
The odds of matching a number using pure Quick Picks are the same whether 2 in a row or in 2 different stores.. because you are having the Store's RNG pick mathematical digits vs. a physical machine (usually anyway).. you should only use QP if you want to play Computerized drawings (that also use RNG) but most of you sound like you avoid such drawings (and I can understand that).. basically if you use RNG you are computerizing your picks! The reason that a lot of jackpots are won via QP are be

What is up with MM/PB
In the first 4 months of 2006, MM produced 2 jackpots of more than $260M, annuity, paying $160M in cash and $149M in cash. Each of these pots took more than 2 months to build.
Statistically, these jackpots are very unlikely. The model I've developed indicates that from start of a run, it has a 51% chance of rolling 7 times.
The actual length of MM runs in 2006 thus far is 7.6, meaning the MM lottery is being won slightly less than expected.
There are bound to be big jackpots, and th

Hot Lotto higher than Powerball
CASH Only, I hope Hot Lotto continues to roll, but also hope that PB continues to win jackpots.

Winning Mega Million ticket sold in Canton Michigan
I'm still waiting for Illinois to produce another MM jackpot winner. Illinois has not had one since September 27, 2002. Also, I matched just two white balls in last night's draw! grrrrrrrrr
This jackpot winner also sets a record for Mega Millions for total number of jackpots awarded in one year - this was the fourteenth MM jackpot awarded this year. Powerball's record is also fourteen jackpots and was set just last year (PB has had nine so far this year).
