Colorado Lottery director to retire
After 4 years on the job, Margaret Peggy Gordon is retiring as director of the Colorado Lottery. Gordon, who formally made the announcement on Tuesday, said her final day on the job will be June 30, the last day of the state's fiscal year. When she gets up on July 1, the first thing she plans to do is buy a Lottery ticket, which she's barred from doing as an employee. The average length of stay for a Lottery director is 18 months, and I'm at 4 years, so I think that's pretty good, s

Anniversary: N.D. Lottery reflects back on last four years
Four years ago today, North Dakota launched it's own lottery. At the time only Powerball was available for purchase in the state. Since then, three new games have been added. Each one of the North Dakota Lottery's games are run by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which is famous for creating the first nation-wide multi-state lottery game, Powerball (formerly Lotto America). The North Dakota Lottery does not conduct any of the drawings itself. It's estimated by June 13th of

Quick Picks can't match the power of Self Picks
Sorry Rehoboth, I got a little side tracked on some other projects. I'm going to respond to each of your statements as they were typed. Some of them will have details, some won't. Self picks vs Quick picks. Opening statement. The numbers are random. Open ended statement. Any patterns that you believe you are seeing are a mirage. This statement I'd have to disagree with. Every lottery is based in some form finite combinatorial or permutational selec

NY midday and maybe eve
Just started looking at NY combined and saw Digit 7 is out in 3rd spot 57 draws. But...... besides that I wanted to look at Big Fat Filters... 50/50 for example. We have been looking at those on a Discussion Post this weekend. Nice to start off with 500 numbers instead of 1000 each day ......if you can. If you can plug in 3 or 4 of those Big Boys as filters right off the bat ......it gets you down to pretty good odds fast. Not that Pick 3 and Good odds have anything in common.

Is the lottery shortchanging schools?
According to the North American Assoc. of State and Provincial Lotteries, 42 states and the District of Columbia run lotteries, and more than half claim the games boost funding for education. But CBS News chief investigative correspondent Armen Keteyian found that lotteries aren't exactly providing a windfall for schools. If you listen to state lottery ads, we're supposed to believe that all the numbers are supposedly adding up to more and more money for education. Lotteries help, but n

Lottery Not Blaming Slots for Flat Sales Pennsylvania's lottery sales stumbled in the just-ended fiscal year as slot machines came on line finishing flat after a half-decade of huge gains spurred by bigger games, more retailers and glitzier advertising. D.C. Lottery hopes raffle will bring fiscal success
The D.C. Lottery's Quick Cash game had been around for more than 15 years when Todd Zimmerman walked into Rodman's Drugs in Northwest in February 2005 and bought two $1 tickets. With three games on each ticket, the government contractor won the maximum $250,000 jackpot for each of the six games. But the improbable $1.5 million payout also helped put the D.C. Lottery's Quick Cash game more than $640,000 in the red for the year, records show. Within months, the game was canceled, although lo

Star Spangled lottery not a hit with players
The Massachusetts Lottery's Star Spangled Sweepstakes is shaping up to be a Yankee Doodle disappointment. With just four days remaining until the game ends on Saturday, prior to the July 4 drawing, sales of the $20 ticket have been significantly below expectations, said lottery spokeswoman Beth Bresnahan. Through Monday sales hovered at about 30 percent of the game's 4 million tickets, or about 1.2 million tickets, have been sold. It's a little slower than expected, said Bresnahan.
