I like the cap rule the way it is. Unlimited jackpots are still possible, while second prizes are increased.

I don't live in Texas, but I understand why some people might not want the extra ball, even if it drives up the jackpots. After the FL Lotto 6/49 was changed to 6/53 and two (instead of one) drawings a week, the jackpots increased of course, but it just makes a regular player spend more money for a game with higher odds. Right now it's at the $3 million minimum jackpot which, to me, is a nice chunk of change. Of course I'd rather win $50M, but it's not the big numbers that get me to buy Lotto ti

I know this is crazy....how does Ohio keep getting the winners. That is two major jackpots in a row now that have gone there. Not only that but it seems like a bunch of large jackpots have gone in that state in the past couple years and they don't even sell that many tickets. Brad

For those players who think winning $100M or more is ridiculous, there are the local lotteries with better odds and smaller jackpots. States use multi-state games with big jackpots to attract more players to all their games because it works. PowerBall has a cap that goes into effect when its jackpot reaches a record amount and then more money is put in the prize pool for the 2nd place winners. I think it only happened once.
