Powerball & Megamillions Growing
Why do you say PowerBall is capped at $390 million? Also, to say the PowerBall is capped isn't exactly correct, it's the increase that is capped. The increase cap is $25 million. The cap is only applied when the jackpot FIRST meets or exceeds the current record, which is $365 million. As you saw last night, the $181 million jackpot went up to $210 million. That's an increase of $29 million. If PowerBall comes a little short of the record(for example $350-$360 million), the increase won't be appl

update for the news i swear i knew he would hit 757 just like the ny miday number yesterday
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Barry Bonds wasted no time adding to his home run record: this time, with a two-run shot into the water for No. 757. It helped Bruce Bochy to his 1,000th managerial victory, too.
Bonds hit a towering homer into McCovey Cove in the first inning of the San Francisco Giants' 5-0 win against Washington on Wednesday, one night after breaking Hank Aaron's 33-year-old record with his 7

How to Beat Powerball: And drastically reduce the odds (theory)...
I said: Also you then record the ships draws lenght and list them and then ascertain that the less skips lenght is the minimum draw will play....
What i meant to say: Also you then record the SKIPS draws lenght and list them and then ascertain that the less skips lenght is the minimum draw that it will play....
More important than winning the states' lotteries is the movie Red Planet .....

Beating Gail Howard's Record Using Her Own System Challenge
Okay, for those who don't know, Gail Howard beat the odds by winning 72 lotto prizes in a year. Let's see if you can do better.
I won 2 Free Plays in the Take-5 this week and 9 last week (I can't remember accuratley further back). So my count is:
2 + 9 = 11

MM jackpot turns out to be $390m
The cap on PB is a limit on how much it can increase each time it rolls. Once the previous record is reached it can go up by no more than $25 million (annuity, of course) for the subsequent drawing. The previous PB record was 365, so if it rolls past 365 it will be limited by the lesser of actual sales or the $25 million cap. If it rolls to the mid-200's a subsequent roll could take it past 365 without reaching 395. If sales take it to 387 and it rolls again the cap would limit the next draw t

$370 million!!
Well then, it will definitely have to roll tonight. We've now got a jump of $95 million from the last draw, and the same jump for a roll would take it to $465. I'd guess at the advertised jackpot starting at $475, but I can't imagine that we wouldn't see our first jackpot of half a billion.
By any reasonable accounting MM has held the record since the cash payout to the group from Anaheim 16 months ago. Even using the annuity, PB's $25 million cap on jackpot increases probably means that P

Match 6 $4,950,000 CASH!
deliberately repeats some of the numbers to make sure a match of 10 is possible.
This what I actually always believed. For the record, the match 6 is now the highest it has ever been, $6,000,000! As I said in the MM's thread, there seems to be a trend of record jackpots coming back again...coincidence? I wonder if the PB will follow suit? Seems to be right on track. I usually hate when numbers repeat, but I was glad when they did this week when I won. However very rarely do I ever win with

Lottery winner followed careful spending plan
I remember the Wests in Oregon won the 340 million Pb and the 363 BG was two winners. I also notice the 5 top jackpots never got close to or over 400M. The only way that happens is on this Mega if it keeps going it might make it this time.. but on Pb it is harder to because of the Roll-down rule after a record is reached and also because once a record is reached the News is all over it and the Fever kicks in, and with that usually you find a winner the next drawing or the one after.

Record low 2d prize in NY Blotto 2/17
www.nylottery.org
Just over 11k each to four 5+/6 winners Saturday night. The 5/6 prize was too low to be taxable (in fact in the normal range of Take Five second prizes.) 4/6 was only $10.
The NY Blotto payout will continue to be 40% even with the coming NY Blotto Extra ($2) option.

Finally a game that matches the temperature
Well the current powerball jackpot is in between records.
Record temp in US was Death Valley in 1913 (will all that global warming) and was 134 F.
Record temp on earth was in Libya in 1922 (again with that global warming) and was 136 F.
Hottest temp ever in a lab was set in 2006 at 3.6 billion F. You don't have to worry about a lottery getting that high unless they pull a fast one. Powerball could say it's that high but forget that the prize is now paid with Taiwan dollars not US dollar
