Lottery winner is arrested for failing to appear
Winning the lottery proved to be unlucky for a Craven County, North Carolina, man.

But they weren't looking for a loan. They were looking to arrest him.
Thomas Bersch, with the Craven County Sheriff's office, said Wooten, 20, was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court for larceny, and breaking and entering.
Bersch said authorities were given in

Drug dealer must forfeit lottery jackpot
The warrant was legal and they served it according to the current requirements of the law. The fact they found nothing illegal going on after they trashed the place had nothing to do with legality. They didn't have any responsibility for putting it back the way it was before, nor for paying to do it. Sid talked to his insurance agent, but this circumstance evidently wasn't covered. Can't make an omlet without breaking some eggs.Happens quite a bit along the interstate out here. They'll stop

How would you break up your winnings?
I would put lots of money in overseas investments, because hyperinflation always follows huge balance of payments deficits accompanied by redistribution of wealth and government deficits. People think that the United States cannot face the same consequences as did many South American nations but they are basically wrong.I would buy stocks in foreign currencies, some US stocks, and quite a bit of (uninflatable) property. If we ever have a sane government again, I would of course, bring my money h

I mean you kinda learn how to count cards and they consider that cheating. HOW???? Its part of the game isn't it? And I mean having a little calculator that tells you were the ball could possible drop thats cheating too? And you can get arrested for that? Darn you take the houses edge down a little bit and they arrest you. That calculator wasn't 100%

claiming your lottery money?
Most states crosscheck each winner's name against federal, state, and local agency files before they payout a penny. One Massachusetts Lottery winner of a modest (in lottery terms) $25,000 jackpot received a net check of only $6,000 after the state deducted $19,000 for previous welfare payments made to the player. Further, the state considered him to have earned income of $25,000 and removed him from the welfare rolls, leaving him worse off after he won than before! Other areas commonly checked
