I think there is a culture of brain corruption at these state lotteries where they see players as cattle or sheepeople to be milked of our money. We're not supposed to win. This kind of thinking makes them say it doesn't matter whether doubles could be drawn or not because you had the same chance of winning you always did playing doubles, because there is nothing in random that would require doubles ever be drawn. If I ever want to give my opinion on the Fair Tax I will write it in my blog. However, there are many sites online that offer a lot of the reasons I would give anyway. It's not as equitable as it sounds, but this thread isn't the place for a political debate. It won't work and it will promote more corruption in this country.

What makes you think democrats are more likely to do anything with it? Democrats controll WA state and they passed the most restrictive laws against online gambling in the country - to where it'sillegal to even post online about it. It's about corruption. The day politicians in either party listen to voters instead of their own personal financial intrests is the day these laws get struck down. So in otherwords not a chance in hell.

The sad thing is the winnings would already be subject to Federal income tax (states may very). Politiciians are just more interested in corruption than the opinions of their constituents.

The biggest online operators so far are out of the UK. Not surprised that MGM would consider having an offshore internet presence. I'm sure other multi-national corporate gaming interests will join them. I'm also not surprised by the corruption on the part of those trying to stop the inevitable.

NY needs a new lottery chief. I'm sure we'll get one assuming Eliot Spitzer (a Democrat; Republican George Pataki is in his 12th year as governor and is not seeking re-election) wins the statehouse in November. But whoever takes over the NY Lottery probably will be little more than a puppet for the corruption-filled branch of state government.
