New Zealand man who lost his job during lockdown wins $10 million Lotto jackpot
Every time someone or some article mentions anonymous winner we get to read about countries with national lotteries that are tax free. I guess it's really difficult for them to understand the U.S. has no national lottery and why Federal taxes are deducted. Even after many posts explaining that. The only thing relevant not paying taxes is some states have no state taxes and some with a state tax don't tax lottery winnings. We'll cross the no Federal taxes on lottery winnings if we ever get a N

Wisconsin 2 draws a day
Texas had a 20 digit All or Nothing game that they cancelled due to college students figured out math logarithms to win with. Bobsleigh, do you have a link to a news article about this? I never heard about this, and I don't live in TX or follow its lottery news. Was there a flaw in the game similar to what the MIT students and the Selbees found in Cash Winfall in Massachusetts? Thanks.

Dream Team 04/01/20 - 04/30/20
You mention something interesting here. And perhaps biased. Think about it, you said they run 3 tests. If a number duplicates they run another test. Well, is it always 3 tests, or only if a number duplicates. And why should there be any criteria such as a number duplicating to change the machine or run another test. If it's 3 pretests, then the actual draw should always be on the 4th 'test'. The set of rules or procedures should and have to be the same every single time, in order to be considere

Lottery Post breaks down every state lottery's response to COVID-19
Of course, I would strongly recommend that people visit their state lottery website for more information. (Which is why links are provide in the article.) The goal here is to provide an overview of how it is handled from state-to-state, and then provide specific links for more information. Also, this is a snapshot as of Monday morning. Because things are changing rapidly, you should definitely follow the links for any updates provided by the lottery. I sincerely hope that lotteries that have

Just curious on the MM/PB jackpots
Historically, somewhere in the low .6 range seems pretty common over the last few years, but there's been wide variation over the years. Just looking at the Wikipedia article on record jackpots the lowest ratio I found is an August 2007 PB jackpot. The cash value was $146 million, and the annuity was 314.3 million, for a ratio of just 46.45%. Flipped the other way around, the annuity paid out 215% of the cash value. Recently the cash had been hovering around the high 60% range, and only climb

Michigan Lottery has few options to stop players who spend millions
Wow, he had 500 winning P4 ST8 tix. Good for him. To win that much and often, he must have some mad skills and loot to play that much. This article indicates that MI Lotto can't stand perfectly legal highroller winners and they are trying to stop it.

Alaska governor proposes lottery amid budget woes
How so? The article says lawmakers blew through billions of dollars, what makes one think their habits have not changed? Plus, with a population of under 800,000- one wonders why they think a lottery is going to solve their problems? Fiscally responsible, they are not. One thing l know, they have lots of drunks up there * Source? Alaskan Police on TV.

Massachusetts man sues 2 women, claiming they cheated him out of $4 million lottery prize
Based on the article it looks like a he-said-she-said case because it seems these women -- if they did indeed do what DaPonte alleges -- were smart enough not to leave a trail. My instinct says they probably did swindle him, but good luck to him proving it. At least his $3800 can buy him some of those fancy Rosetta Stone CDs and some in person English classes. I'm guessing Gaspar and Oliveira are also from Brazil, but were sensible enough to learn English.
