How about we try to predict one event out of 10? Or 20? or even 30? Will that work? Can we find an algorithym that will, with certainty, predict one out of 30? In my many years of experience working in the cryptographic community, I have found a few things to be true. Random simply means that by studying past results you can not with certainty predict the next event. I think the lottery meets that requirement. In cryptography we understood that some things can be sufficiently random . Do Wealthy People Play The Lottery?Reply
I think wealthy people do play the lottery but for different reasons than most of us. To a working slob hitting the lottery would be a means to getting out of the trap and thus a life changing event. To those already wealthy, that's not their concern. I think more than anything they would play for a diversion. To welthy people money is just the way of keeping score.
