Any way can win and any way can lose. My advice is to find ONE WAY to play and just stick to it. There will never be a way NOT TO LOSE in the lottery...even in the smaller games. You can increase consistency (efficiency) but, in the event of a loss, it will cost you. In the end, it's simply a matter of preference. Lose smaller amounts of money over a longer period of time, or, a larger amount every now and then. There are only (2) options available when one really understands numbers.

I have seen cases where front and back pairs stay missing 2 or 3 years, on rare occassions. But I have never seen a no match non-double pair stay out 200 or more draws. This is a once in a thousand years or more kind of event for any given state to see a stat like this.
