Thanks Todd...I was waiting for you to respond. Not sure, if the system for raffles works the same way from state to state as Ontario does. I will refer to our old Winner Take All nightly raffle game with a guaranteed winner in Ontario that ended last year. First the lottery terminal generates the ticket selection then it is stored as an ENTRY number (not as the numbers on the ticket). Now the control number/bar code number in Ontario is actually attached to an entry number ie. 34859.

Why would it be impossible to buy tickets for the next draw 2 seconds after the previous drawing? Just last week I decided to make a late bet and the machine only printed half the tickets. I found out why when the clerk tried to run the rest of the tickets; they were for the next day's Midday draw because the ticket sales stopped before all the tickets were printed. I was shut out. Thanks WSN1! Justxploring I also think many people (including me) will treat a winning ticket like coins in a slot machine. You know how people get excited when the quarters come flying out and they plug them back in, hoping to win more? Doesn't it make you wonder when someone puts $1.25 in quarters or $5 in dollars in a video poker machine, gets a pair of jacks, and shouts, I won! I love when the jack is over 100 mill on mega million!!!! thats when family members and myself chip in for the 20 number wheel!!!! only when jacks get over 100 mill we try for the gusto!! heck!! Coin Toss, You are right. I stand corrected. My response was about scratch tickets and then I added a general recommendation to combate retailer fraud. A lot of the recently reported retailer fraud concerned non-scratch purchases. Buying online would not help prevent scratch ticket fraud. There is the option of providing scratch tickets online but then the terminal or computer would resemble a slot machine or videa lottery terminal.

This makes me wonder: Should these raffles be drawn with balls instead of computer selected?
