Couple finds winning $1.8M lottery ticket while cleaning house for Thanksgiving
Maybe she works and her husband failed to clean the house. But the article says they were tidying up for guests. This does not mean the house had not been cleaned in half a year. We all have a junk drawer, etc. and we all go to extra efforts for guests during the holidays.
They also appear to me to be very financially stable and when they stated the money went into the retirement account, that kind of confirms their status.

Homeless man dives into dumpster to retrieve lottery ticket worth $4.82M
The quote was dived into a dumpster to retrieve the winning ticket ..if you want to be so technical about it ... but I took i took step further and looked at what was a reasonable deduction in believing that he was in fact the person who was responsible for the ticket ending up in the dumpster. Following the connection leads from this news article

Homeless man dives into dumpster to retrieve lottery ticket worth $4.82M
It almost seems like the MI lottery is a little different than from this morning...maybe it's just me. Said this time he retrieved the PLAY SLIP from the dumpster.
IDC one way or the other, but first time reading the article David Edwards came to mind. No deja vu please.

8 years after buying $10.8 million ticket, lottery winner says life is 'marvelous'
You might want to reread the story. The $10.77 million was the pre-tax cash value.
Using the nominal tax rates at the time the after-tax take home would have been about $6.8 million, leaving $2.8 million after putting $4 million into a trust for kids and grand kids. It's also worth noting that just because the article reports that they put $4 million into a trust for their kids and grand kids doesn't guarantee that they don't gain some benefit from that money.

Massachusetts has a new rule to stop repeat winners — but so far, they keep winning
Though Massachusetts isn't a big state per se, I know from growing up there that no way could Ali have bought all those tickets by himself. I'm referring to a previous article about him getting tickets all over the place including Nantucket in one day I believe. No way, been there and quite a ride out in the ocean to get there and back. Now if it had been Martha's Vineyard that is significantly closer to land.
Whatever he and family have going on I say go for it while you can.

If a dual (UK/USA) citizen wins the Euro Jackpot?
A UK citizen could simply move out of the US and have no US income tax obligations on future income earned outside of the US.
It's not that simple. Read an article about the Fourteenth Amendment/Executive Order debate and saw a story about Accidental Americans living abroad . Apparently some of them are required to pay U.S. income tax even though they only lived in the U.S. as babies or were born in another country to American parents and never lived in the U.S.

$667 MILLION: Biggest Mega Millions jackpot ever
Lol lol. That winner in 2009 was the last one. What is interesting , is that the winner claimed via a trust but there is a reference in the article to a reporter showing up at the home of the winner, possibly. But there was no followup. So was the winner tracked down due to the name of the trust...Rockson something as I recall. And/or, does the DC lottery also release a name in the case of a trust, like J. Smith? Their rules are vague and open to interpretation.
