Picking your own numbers(What's up with that?)
The only US jackpot game where players CANNOT choose all their numbers whenever they play is Pennsylvania Super-6 Lotto . This game began in 1998, long before PA was allowed to join a multi-state game. I suppose the automatic quick-picks (players can choose only 1/3 of their numbers) and the 1-in-40 million jackpot odds were a desperate attempt by PA to create a $100 million jackpot like in 1989 with the old Super-7 . On-line jackpot games need to avoid automatic quick-picks other than for fre

Powerball TV Game Show
MUSL is not only Powerball. It runs two other multi-state lotto games, and, last year, launched a television game show produced by Mark Goodson Productions. Ten of the MUSL lotteries took part in its first season; 13 for the second year, which has just begun. In May, I mailed two entry scratch tickets in a envelope to the Connecticut Lottery. A few days later, I received a letter mentioning I was picked to be an At-Home player for the September 1 episode. A man was selected to represent CT in

NY Lotto 6/59 coming...
Todd: I've mentioned numerous times that the NY Legislature will not allow the NY Lottery to return more than 40% of wagers as prizes, or allow us to join a multi-state game. I only found out this morning (through the NY Daily News). Both stories seem vague as far as the second prize (I know of no US lotto game ever having a SECOND prize jackpot, though they exist on slot machines). The three lowest prize tiers won't be worth winning. The NY Lotto will never be as popular as Powerball/Big Game a

more info on Lotto South
Todd: The other potential members are all Southern states. I think the #1 purpose of this game is to allow players to try for sizeable jackpots without the impossible odds of Powerball/Big Game. As for the jackpot being hit too often, it's certainly possible, but, it means that there will be bigger rollovers when not hit. I wouldn't mind if most single-state jackpot games are replaced by multi-state games (with the exceptions of California, Texas, and maybe Florida). I also mentioned of a po

Ohio Lottery Players
Todd, as you know, I live in New York, but, I follow the progress of other states' quest for big jackpots. One thing you did NOT mention is how Ohio discriminates against lump-sum winners by using a smaller cash value (15-20%) than for those who take the annuity (30 payments.) Ohio needs to join a multi-state game (any more on a proposed joint game with Pennsylvania?) There will be a Lotto South beginning shortly after Labor Day; Kentucky will have another mega-jackpot game to lure Cincinnat

America's multi-state lottery titans agree to ticket-selling partnership
Even bigger, unified national game could be next
They are the two marquee games in American lotteries: Mega Millions and Powerball. Each lottery state currently has one, but not the other. However, the Mega Millions consortium and Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) have reached an agreement in principle to cross-sell Mega Millions and Powerball in all U.S. lottery jurisdictions.
The agreement means that lotteries from across the United States, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, will be able

Cash4Life multi-state lottery game goes daily in July
Starting July 1, you'll be able to play the multi-state Cash4Life lottery game on a daily basis.
The New York Gaming Commission Monday gave its final approval to the change from twice-weekly to daily drawings. The change was needed to conform with the eight other states that offer the game and have approved daily drawings.
In its current format, Cash4Life has drawings on Mondays and Thursdays.
New York started Cash4Life with New Jersey in 2014. Since then, seven other states have joined
