Thief can't resist lure of lottery tickets
Most laws require the value of the theft to determine in part what the penalty will be. If you steal a 25cent bubble gum your not going to jail for five years. I veer from any person who labels a person stupid . Yes the guy did something without seeing the negative consequences, but I've yet to meet a person who is without that very characteristic.

S.C. may ban illegal aliens from claiming lottery prizes
It's amazing to me that this is even an issue, If you are wanted for murder or have any kind of warrant out for you for illegal activity and you cashed in your lottery winning ticket you would be arrested on the spot and sent to jail; this should be the same for any person engaged in any illegal activity whether it be theft, murder, or entering in the U.S. illegally.

Betslips.com
Does anyone know much about this betslips.com site? Are they legit? Do they pay? I was at their website and read all their info but I still have doubts: They don't list a physical address, plus they require your SSN and your date of birth to register (for click2pay). Is that really necessary in this day and age of identity theft?

Lottery winner pleads innocent to ID theft, fraud charges
1/14/2006Isn't it so,......and as MommaCat ....pointed out she signed her actual name to her scratch offs, that she paid for with the Card. Anyone, clever enough to use credit cards of deceased family members should know that you never purchase anything, that you will have to sign for outright....and again , I do not condone fraud or theft of any kind, but if she is using her Mother-in-laws card she should have been more careful. The outcome of this case should be very interesting.......

Original buyer of $1M lottery ticket identified
Do you know that for a fact, Raven62, or are you just guessing? It's clear they didn't have him arrested for theft. But the legal question of whether they tacitly consented to allowing him ownership of the ticket seems to me to be entirely up for grabs. They certainly have him on the security camera taking the ticket.I'd bet if the dumpster diver wins his court case against the original purchaser his legal battles over the money haven't even begun. And the party of the second part definitely has

Woman found guilty of stealing winning lottery ticket
This was a failed theft of $175,000. Her witnessed signature on the back of the ticket would prove that, hence Dora likely put it through the paper shredder! Trying to excuse her criminal actions on being upset over a dog (and also trying to compare a dog to a baby) is just pathetic. Jail, where she is, is exactly where she belongs!
