Lottery winner wins again with $1M scratch ticket at lottery headquarters
A Medford, Massachusetts, man cashing in a $1,000 scratch ticket won another $1 million after he stopped to buy another ticket in the lobby of the Massachusetts State Lottery's Braintree headquarters.
Chi Chan arrived in Braintree on Wednesday to redeem his $1,000 winner. On his way out Chan bought a $30 ticket at the vending machine inside lottery headquarters.
A short time after, Chan was at the bank when he scratched the ticket and found he had won $1 million.
On Thursday, Chan retur

found winner
Is there anyone who checks discarded tickets regularly who can give an educated guess as to what % of unvalidated tickets discarded will be winners ?
I am guessing 1.5%-2% but that is just a guess.
It started for me maybe a year ago when my state first introduced a new $30 game. This ticket has so many numbers on it that it will blow your mind. Its very very easy to not notice something. Well I liked the ticket but I wasnt trying to drop $30 on one ticket so 1 day I walked by the machine a

UK Lotto players furious over 5-number payout
The reaction and the complaints of players make no sense. What gives winners the right to complain when the rules that were known in advance are applied? Do they propose that Camelot should break the rules just this time or something? One thing is to suggest that the rules should change in the future, but it is a whole different thing to blame Camelot for your own stupidity of not even reading the rules of the games that you play.
On an unrelated note, for this very reason I always play unpop

At least two charged in scheme to manipulate Connecticut Lottery game
While the sales process was flawed, the bigger issue is the ability of lottery machine operators to buy tickets from their own retail location. That should not be permitted. While that wouldn't necessarily prevented this situation, it would have raised the bar somewhat.
Retailers have detailed information that the public at-large doesn't have. For example, in PA, a retailer can know whether 90% of lower tier winners have been redeemed out of an instant ticket pack. From my limited understandi

No more scratchers for me. No more.
I quit playing scratch-offs as the odds just seem to be getting worse and worse. Also, I grew very suspicious of convenience store workers/owners regarding winning tickets.
With $100 'seed' money, I bought five $20 tickets for a game that still had a majority of large prizes available even though it had been around for about a year. I went to 3 different convenience stores for my tickets. At the largest store, the ticket that they gave me was all mangled up on the top part. They kept their t

Unclaimed £33m UK Lotto winner!
A woman has claimed she has the missing 33 million winning lottery ticket but put it through the wash.
She came forward after Camelot announced the winning numbers had been selected in Worcester and told residents to check down the side of sofas .
The woman, who refused to be named, claims the paper slip went through the washing machine in the pocket of a pair of jeans.
She presented the tattered remains to Ambleside News on Friday, where she said she bought it.

POWERBALL CREATES WORLD'S FIRST BILLION-DOLLAR JACKPOT
At the Wawa where I buy tickets, there was no line and seemingly little interest this afternoon. The machine was just there, being mostly ignored as usual. Bought one ticket with Powerplay, plus one PA Treasure Hunt ticket ($100K jackpot, which is high for that game).
Crazy as it seems, Powerball could roll again. While it's world record breaking, most who played last time likely won't wager more than previously (many already blew their extra funds; maxed out their cash advance lines, etc). A

60 days to decide if lump sum or annuity, 180 days to claim. Huh?
From the Powerball FAQ page, about 2/3 down the page:
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET MY MONEY?
It takes up to two weeks to collect the cash from the stores around the nation. If you go to the lottery to claim your prize after that two weeks, then, in many states, you can generally have the jackpot money (all cash or the first of the annual payments) hit your bank account the next day - maybe the following day if you come to the lottery office very late in the day. Some lotteries must w

Keys to become a millionaire
More than once there has been proof of how much an advantage lottery retailers have selling tickets but maybe with all these self serve machines where the tickets are hidden inside and not up by the cash register for idle clerks to examine or to look for certain hot numbers in a book of tickets ... might have changed that.
They might see a pattern from cashing tickets and buy certain tickets in various parts of a book for themselves.
Several years ago I bought the last five or six tickets

Oregon man claims $6.3 million Arizona Lottery jackpot
By Todd Northrop
An Oregon man who purchased a lottery ticket in Arizona is now a multi-millionaire.
Frederick Hallwyler purchased a few lottery tickets while visiting Arizona, including four quick picks for The Pick drawing on Saturday, Sept. 26, from a vending machine at a Fry's Food Store in Avondale.
He returned to Portland and remembered to check his tickets three days later. What he found out was that one of his tickets matched all six numbers for the $6,285,618 jackpot.
