Mathematics and the Lottery
Hi,
Was calculus a new math form the times when algebra was high math? Was algebra a new math from the times when addition, subtraction, and division where state of the art? I guess it is comfortable living in a flat world, because that might be the only current knowledge. But, win or lose, there are those out there exploring just to see if there is more.
I reallly don't have anything else to say regarding this spin on the poll be taken. I'd rather spend my time toward practical, useable

Megamillions and Powerball Games
Voters,
Well, it looks like the man from Missouri has tired of defending his process of splitting base 10 numbers into their component digits, so maybe we can get back to this poll. I'm curious what others' reasons are for their choices. It looks like Megamillions with Megaplier has edged out the others, but not by that much. I chose that one because the simulator tells me its return for each $ spent is highest, assuming you never hit a big prize. There really is no correct answer since th

Everyone should buy only one ticket for any game
Think about this. If you buy more than one ticket, you're not sure if any One of those tickets will be a winner. Having doubt will negatively affect any scenario.
If you buy only one ticket, your focus is 100% on one combo. Look at the numbers for a while, maybe 5 minutes.
My next project is to force myself to repeat numbers like a soft mantra in my head. It's not easy, especially if I'm driving or doing some other task/s.
I wonder if LP members would be interested in a mass focus on a

Is it immoral to work if you've won enough to not work?
Sorry, I think this question/poll is invalid, because you define something else (such as creating jobs, researching some new cure, or volunteering) as other than work.
That stuff IS work.
It is not ever immoral to work.
It IS immoral to be a sloth, to NOT work, to lay around and indulge in gluttony.
Even if you have a ton of money, successful people will find things to do, to keep busy, work on charities, business ventures, etc. Not just lounge around all the time.

Which multi-state Jackpot game Will Be Played More Often ?
Games like EZ Match is where the lottery industry seems to be headed. They double the price of a smaller jackpot game by adding more prizes. Since the Illinois Lottery is run by a private company, they will keep adding. One of these days they will have side bets on every possible pick-3 way.
I think most people here would just throw that exra dollar on another ticket.
If the MM jackpot rolls someone will start a topic and/or poll asking how many rolls and there will be several variations

Does anyone own Lucky Lucille's Gold Book?
If they don't give instructions, they're not responsible. You'll just have to puzzle it out.
Got zero in the LP poll.

Threat to boycott the UK National Lottery as tickets double to £2
That 73% that is unhappy or very unhappy are probably long time losers anyway- the poll would matter not if they were winners.
They will get used to it because l may be wrong on tbis but the price never reverts back to a dollar once its been raised .
I stand to be corrected.
* Our Toll bridges price went up and we were told the increase is temporary - right, and that was back in the mid 80's.
When one thinks lottery price increase- think Toll bridges

Why would MM risk losing people/money with new matrix?
bigbear,
We've had polls here on the board about how big would a matrix be before you stopped playing and some people said there's no way they'd stop. They also said the same to a similar poll about ticket prices. In fact, many here swore off of Powerball when it went to $2 and $3 but got lured back in with big jackpots. Those who run the lotteries know these thingsl this all too well.
To paraphrase Field of Dreams, the lottery thinking is, If you offer it they will play .
There also se
