Iowa Lottery officials have set a 3 p.m. Friday deadline for the mystery winner of a multi-million dollar Hot Lotto jackpot to reveal themselves or their claim on the prize will be denied.

The Justice Department has reversed its long-held opposition to many forms of Internet gambling, removing a big legal obstacle for states that want to sanction online gambling to help fix their budget deficits.

Lottery scam victim dies scarred
Even in the last months of her life, Lorraine Teicht could not fully trust people.
She could never get over how three of her workmates had once turned on her.
Suspicious that she had filched a $5.7 million 6/49 lottery ticket that rightfully belonged to all four, they had hired a private eye to see if her lifestyle had dramatically changed.

Store clerk accused of stealing $1M lottery ticket from customer

Clerk tricks lotto winner, pockets money
A man who went to a 7-Eleven in Roseville, Calif., to check on his lottery tickets had picked the right numbers, but state officials said it was the clerk who almost hit the jackpot.
The female clerk told the customer he won $4 on his Mega Millions picks for Aug. 14, and then pocketed his winning ticket worth $555,000, California Lottery officials said.
However, the clerk's alleged scheme fell apart after the unnamed victim became suspicious and called lottery officials.
