Growing number of states move to shield lottery winners
The U.S. lotteries are run by individual states and each state has their own public information laws. If we're taking about PB or MM jackpot winners, some states need to repeal part or all of their PI laws just so an occasion winner can remain anonymous.
on total government and elected officials transparency, but the privacy of the individual winners should be respected. And for those wanting total anonymity, should it only apply to huge jackpot winners or to all lottery winners?

Growing number of states move to shield lottery winners
Slowly but surely the rights of lottery winners may overtake the need for what the states call transparency.
Any noted corruption in anonymous states? None that comes to mind.

Powerball winner-turned lawmaker opposes anonymity for lottery prizewinners
I agree, which is why I bristled when another member said that staying anonymous was only an issue in big cities like LA and San Francisco. (Meaning that it didn't affect this Powerball winner from Iowa, so that's why he is advocating transparency.) I have said that in fact it is much easier to hide in a big city. This Powerball winner is from the type of situation that is hardest to deal with publicly. So whether you agree with him or not, you can't call this guy a hypocrite or accuse him of ma

Powerball winner-turned lawmaker opposes anonymity for lottery prizewinners
Playing devil's advocate here: How do you know that there have been no issues? Because the winners are anonymous, do you have any way of knowing that the prizes were not awarded to insiders?
I'm not trying to take one side or another, but I do think that both sides have valid points.

Virginia lottery jackpot winners can stay anonymous, starting in July
Yes, Wyoming is an anonymous state. Artist77 included that in her thread dedicated to the topic: https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/326232
I've updated the story to include Wyoming.

Lottery state chart/anonymity and claimants
It would not be removed and when you update it periodically it will be at the first position again.
Thanks again and here's hoping that California joins the Anonymous club soon.

Australian man wins $23 million lotto draw — twice
Note, he chose to remain anonymous. All Australian lottery have that right. The vast majority, very wisely, choose to do so.
All US lotteries should give winners that right. It can be extremely dangerous for lottery winners, to be publicly identified.

(Californians) why don't we write to our state representatives to guarantee anonymity to winners?
I'm specifically thinking about PB and MM jackpot winners.
If we all threaten to never buy tickets again until they change the law, and we actually stop buying tickets, they will be FORCED to change this rule. They love our money too much.
Obviously, realistically, a lot of people will still buy tickets, but with a large drop of sales they will change the law for sure.
As far as I know, the US is the only country in the world that doesn't let you be anonymous (only in 6 states you can
