Texas Lottery under the microscope in hearings
Texas Lottery officials were summoned Tuesday to testify before a legislative committee for the second time in five months, this time over allegations of mismanagement brought by a lottery systems analyst who was fired the same day the Houston Chronicle reported his concerns.Shelton Charles, who oversaw much of the lottery's technical operations before his firing Friday, planned to testify Monday at a hearing of the House Licensing and Regulation Committee, which oversees the lottery. The committ

Illinois pick 4 evening 10/29/05
CDude congrats on your midday win. I am sorry about the post had to do the family thing this am and didn't post or get a chance to do the work up. Managing my time spent doing work ups and such sure does get in the way of doing other stuff. Until I get a new PC for myself I have been jumping from one unit to another. My PC is dying this PC belongs to the kids. My excel stuff is on my PC so I've been jumping from one PC to another so I can post stuff. And since this PC belongs to them I have to w

No more systems disscussed
I agree. I've read that about the only thing they can do to alter ballset drawing trends is to retire one or more ballsets which is done periodically by all lotteries to ensure randomness. I was told by a Virginia Lottery representative that all Lotto South ballsets were retired, new ones put into play around the latter part of January '05, if anyone noticed a trend change in that game. I sure did.Lotteries I've written or called in the past have told me that there are a minimum of 3, sometim

Todd i probably should have explained further. So i will try. There are a few people on lottery post i have made friends with kinda like pen pals but because it was so difficult to translate ideas through pm's and such it became necessary for us to communicate by phone. Before this became a paid site we used different data bases lottery web based sites to do some analisys for picking numbers some of those sites were paid sites as well he didn't like that one bit either. we would go round for rou

Illinois pick 4 evening 9/08/05
I am gonna copy it down and do like you said. This is an everyday event up here it seems like. I cant even tell you how many times lottery ladys husband or me have come one off from a straight hit. It is pretty pathetic. The problem that I am having is that her husband has taken a hiatis from the lottery for a while...........he can afford to with her winnings, she is a trip on the mind let me tell ya. That is another story though. What I use to do is compare all of his numbers to all of mine a

Lottery Taxation
I really don't see where you get off on this poor people routine. Poor people spend more money on toilet paper and beer also relative to rich people. So what. The difference is that the rich executive has an annual income not a windfall. Winning a lottery is hardly an average event in someone's live. Income from several sources including dividents, tax-free muni bonds and life insurance payouts are tax free. State lotteries should also be there since most of the money raised by such lotteries g

Lottery Taxation
So what? Who cares that the poor play the lottery I'm well below the median for Seattle and I play (although rarely since the prizes have been so low). Taxing the winnings is poor judgement for sales. Since state games exist for the benefit of the state and to add to the tax coffers they need an added bonus to compete against indian and online gambling offerings.I really don't see where you get off on this poor people routine. Poor people spend more money on toilet paper and beer also relative t

N.M. Lottery posts second-best year
Lance,I think the feeling in general is that when people become educated as to the drawing mechanisms, we have found that the majority of those people dislike computerized drawings.Out of the millions of people who play the lottery, a certain percentage -- I'd guess that it's probably the majority -- is not motivated to become more educated on the lottery itself, as it is merely a form of entertainment to them.If you were to take an average citizen -- not someone educated as to the different opt

Lottery Pools??
I've heard there can be problems in that situation as well. People can change when there is alot of money involved. My opinion is for a lottery pool, all the rules should be agreed upon in advance and written down. When things are written down if someone does want to make trouble, what was written down can be referred back to. When people are discussing something, there can be a misunderstanding when an agreement is reached so putting it in writing is the way to go to make it clear to all invo

Predestination of Numbers?
What's your thoughts on this issue? Are the winning numbers already decided in some sense? A few years ago I bought a lotto ticket on a Sunday and just 'knew' it was a winner. On the drawing that following Wednesday, 4 of the 6 numbers did come up. So... were the winning numbers 'set' and somehow my intuition detected the match giving me the knowing that it would win? Or, less likely, did my convincing feeling help shift the as yet undrawn numbers into position? Since it was my first such intuit
