NY Gov Cuomo vetoes bill that would have allowed lottery jackpot winners to remain anonymous
Totally disagree with such a move as a person's safety and well being are paramount when it comes to money, greed, and mischief. No consideration for the general public what so ever and it's pathetic. No ones needs to know, except for the lottery officials, that I've won unless I choose to disclose it. https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2018/10/23/18015978/lottery-winners-anonymous-mega-millions-prize-jackpot

NY Gov Cuomo vetoes bill that would have allowed lottery jackpot winners to remain anonymous
So os Cuomo implying that states that do allow winners to remain anonymous their lotteries are not on the up and up? In situations like this players should do a total boycott of the lottery but unfortunately that would never happen.

Jackpots and the Media Interest
Neither do I see any requirement to do the media interview in the CA Lottery Winner's Handbook. Don't confuse the advice in the winner's handbook with the rules. There are a lot of things about NY that I like, but the state government is a serious mess. Taking maximum advantage of lottery winners is part of the SOP in NY, so naturally they require you to do the dog and pony show because they think that will promote the lottery's interests. If I win a prize that requires that I'll suggest

South Carolina's billion dollar mega millions ticket
I don't know about other states, but in Texas, nobody gets paid until lottery officials have conducted an investigation to satisfy themselves that the purchase details conformed to state law. Yes, persons who win a million or more may remain anonymous as far as the public is concerned, but the lottery isn't going to withhold federal taxes and release any prize money until they are certain that they are paying the right person.

Homeless man dives into dumpster to retrieve lottery ticket worth $4.82M
don't you find it strange they didn't quote him talking about retrieving the winning ticket from dumpster but quoted him diving in for his play slip? I'd say that using a quote where he talks about throwing the play slip away and retrieving it from a dumpster but not using a quote about throwing the ticket away is exactly why reasoned thinking should tell you that it was the play slip that he threw away, not the ticket. don't you find it strange that someone that wants to remain anonymo

Homeless man dives into dumpster to retrieve lottery ticket worth $4.82M
The 1st sentence isn't quoting what the guy said. dived into a dumpster to retrieve the winning ticket Nice catch, but don't you find it strange they didn't quote him talking about retrieving the winning ticket from dumpster but quoted him diving in for his play slip? It's either that or the story came from the guy himself. And don't you find it strange that someone that wants to remain anonymous sat down and gave an interview? Do you thing he put on a ski mask and used somethin

South Carolina's billion dollar mega millions ticket
The same folks that didn't Win, whine about not being able to remain anonymous where they buy their Lottery Tickets, are the first ones that want to know every thing about the person that did Win! and some of it is jackpot envy to the point of becoming an unhealthy obsession. Do normal people really have serious discussions about winning a Jackpot at the dinner table?

South Carolina's billion dollar mega millions ticket
Conundrum: A question asked for amusement, typically one with a pun in its answer; a riddle. The same folks that didn't Win, whine about not being able to remain anonymous where they buy their Lottery Tickets, are the first ones that want to know every thing about the person that did Win!

Why rehash old news? Remaining anonymous when you win the lottery can only be done in six U.S. states: Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and South Carolina.

Homeless man dives into dumpster to retrieve lottery ticket worth $4.82M
The man, who chose to remain anonymous Just a guess, but maybe someone from the lottery was interviewed instead of the winner. And that would account for all the discrepancies in the story.
