Maryland Lottery a case study in the science of random numbers
Randomness and predictibility. it would seem that the two words fit the sentence very well but not really. If one could predict a random event every time it wouldn't be random. because the logic would come into play.I'd say that it one was to somehow be able to place a camera and link it to a pc for a keno game that uses a computer chip. That the numbers being drawn run in cycles if you had a program that could decipher the numbers and keep track, at some point it would find the numbers that are

Anyone get numbers from kids?
Bonnie your husband is partially right but not completly. The process they use to make the balls varies slightly but not enought to affect the outcome of the draw. it is still a random event. The balls numbers are silkscreened these days and not painted on. There is also several coats of clear lacquer on them. Each ball has a specific weight and falls within a specific weight parameter not varying a few tenth's of a gram from one another. He is right when he says that some balls might be differe

strange occourence
update on this recent event, the winning numbers were seemingly vey close by me yet again, last nights winning powerball numbers were 7,13,17,20,35 and power ball 35.ok now then here is another twist, I am 13 years older than my wife, we have been together for 17 years, our youngest daughter is 7, my wife stated yesterday it had been 7 days since she laid in the tanning bed, {strange I know} when I got to the store in west virginia last night, I needed to buy gas. I had used all my cash to pur

Has Anyone Heard of This System??
I am familiar with the Mastercash Redlist and am sorry to say such a list is total BS. Any time you are following steps such as adding numbers together to create a code to look up your numbers to play from a list, it is a static system based on either past history of something, sections of a wheel(s), or just random generated numbers. There is no way to connect such a system to the future lotto event. Funny thing is, it will have some wins at roughly house odds if put together properly. Usual

Dumb question of the day
I firmly believe that the stated odds is an equation that cannot be reduced...for my example let's look at pick3...1 ticket, odds are 1 in 1,000 it is a SINGLE EVENT you are betting on.2 tickets, odds are 2:1,000 (the 1,000 is fixed because it is the number of possible outcomes.... now you have increased the number of FAVORABLE outcomes to 2, but this in no way reduces the possible outcomes... and they are still only drawing ONE combo)most people don't see it my way, if that helps them justify p

A Modest Proposal
Damn, you have very selective eyes radarmand. The point of showing you that site was to politely warn you against taking that bet. Win d was going to take you for every penny you had! It was a sucker's bet. If you continue to ignore these helpful hints and selectively overlook helpful instruction your either a fool or just from a dead planet. Good Luck, it's all you have going for you. Number of TrialsNNecessary For An Event of Probability p to Appear With The Degree of Certainty DCDC p= .90

Which statistics are important?
Roughly speaking, those odds are slightly longer than throwing heads on 26 successive tosses of a fair coin. (That unlikely dvent has odds of 1 in 67,108,864.) Given that most people would be reluctant to bet on getting 5 heads in a row, let alone 26, this comparison makes it clear that the psychology of lotteries has a logic all of its own. Devlins Angle) Thomas, I read one of the articles you suggested in your post. Most of the material deals with single dvent odds and probability. The key

Why "Patterns" and "Systems" cannot work!
Hmmm...your thought experiment and your general assumption are interesting, but debatable. I think you are confusing plain randomness with probabilistic behaviors. Let me explain myself, if you frame the experiment as what is the next color? then you are framing the answer as unknowable. But if you frame it under other terms, then a specific answer can be produced. I.e. knowing that there are cars with the following colors: green, red, blue,etc... what are the chances of a car of color x to
