California office pool claims $543 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot
It's great that they could remain anonymous. It's also great that they didn't start scrabbling about the jackpot, as many syndicates do. Good luck to them!

Lead balloon or good idea?
The problem with charging for anonymity versus free is the lottery would be responsible for keeping the player's information secret. At the same time in some states the lottery is already responsible for notifying courts and other agencies if state taxes and child support, etc. is due and of course they tell the IRS. One lawsuit for failing to keep a player successfully anonymous would wipe out the profits. Besides, even if the player paid, the spouse or kids would likely blab the secret, but do

Pennsylvania $457 million jackpot winners kept anonymous
If enough players decided to boycott lotteries until all states or their state allowed winners to remain anonymous it would definitely send the lotteries a message. Too bad it will never happen because too many want their '15 minutes of fame' but it would be effective.

$522 MILLION: Mega Millions jackpot increased again
I m glad you were able to get tickets. That is frustrating to go in and be all ready to get tickets and find out that they re down. Found out that this will probably be my last big jackpot in Maryland. We are being transferred to the Midwest and it will be a very quick move. No more anonymous tickets. I m not sure what will happen with my subscription plays. Hmmm. Better to just win tonight...

"File claim at lottery" error on scratch off
The issue happened in Maryland. I have won there so I will continue to play in MD, plus I like the anonymous claiming option. My largest win to date was in Virginia so I continue to play there a few times month.

S.C. woman wins $250,000 on wrong lottery ticket — and is giving it away
not sure what it means. thought pay it forward was something you do at the toll plaza or drive-thru for the anonymous person behind you. so is she going to just throw it all out there to her church or community and let them distribute it. somehow doubt that is going to happen with all of it. a portion perhaps, but all of it. ludicrous. if you are going to give it all away at least have the satisfaction of knowing exactly where it is going.

How much of your face can you hide during the lottery interview?
If you tear up the ticket it won't matter. Only seven states Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and likely soon Georgia allow winners to shield their identities. A handful of other states, like California and Wisconsin, entirely forbid winners to remain anonymous, and then there are the states with gray areas, says Jason Kurland, an attorney in East Meadow, New York, who has represented jackpot winners in the past. Depending on where you live, you can form

Why the fervor over a winner being a quick pick or self pick?
rcbbuckeye, Artist77, I used the term incensed based on a lot of discussions here on LP about quick picks. I can easily imagine this; QP winner: Wow, I played a quick picj and it won the jackpot but I have to aplit it with someone who picked the same numbers. Self pick winner: I spent hours goiung over my charts and strategies and past results and my numbers came in but I'm going to have to split the jackpot with some @!^^($@^ who played a @^%$*%%( quick pick! Consider these 'stin
