Mom, son admit they plotted to kill man over his winning lottery ticket
Given the lack of information in that article we're lucky we even know who pled guilty to what. Everyone is free to make assumptions, but the article doesn't even say that the mother told the son about the ticket or suggested any kind of plan to steal the ticket. The reasonable guess about why the mother only pled guilty to a robbery charge is that the prosecution didn't think they had a strong enough case to get a conviction for something that would have gotten her a longer sentence.

20 co-workers to split $421M Powerball jackpot
The article says they'll be taking home about $12.7 million each. That implies that's it's the net after taxes (or at least withholding), which makes the article wrong. There's no state income tax, but they'll be subject to the usual 25% withholding for federal taxes, so each should initially collect about $9.5 million. What they'll actually end up with will depend on their specific situation and whether or not the top bracket for 2017 remains at 39.6%.

British Columbia Lottery taking bets on US election
Read the article in Breitbart by Milo. Brlliant. Trump out flanked Dems on gay rights, etc. I think Trump's plan is brilliant. The article sums things up wonderfully.

Race and the lottery
Teddi, it is interesting that you bring up the percentages. This article happened almost 30 years ago back in the early 90's. So they never gave the percentages. I presume a large enough number of folks back then made the issue worthy of a written article in the magazine. Because there really weren't any big jackpot winners who who were black.

Scamming store owner loses lottery license
How did I go off on a tangent? I'm talking about the article that started the thread. The link I posted is for RD's Deli and Market in Melrose, Massachusetts, the same store that is talked about in the article.

We have 6 Internet Cafes in Ohio
I read the article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer and then saw where you are still playing in those places. It's either legal or illegal for those places to payout over $10 in cash awards and according to the article it's illegal. If you don't know about that, why are you talking about it and/or gambling in those places?

Powerball winner dies penniless, 12 years after winning $27 million
This article is missing some key pieces. I don't believe everything that I read. Something is not right about this article. He had cars, a lear jet and a house. What happenend to the those items? It is hard for me to believe that this man lost everything that he had. It is hard to read credible news articles these days.
