A dollar and a dream true for PB and MM?
If the odds are 1 in 10 and I buy one ticket, I now have a 1 in 9 chance of winning.
See, that is something that is incorrect. If you have 1 ticket and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 10, then YOUR odds are 1 in 10, not 1 in 9. If somebody else has bought 2 tickets, THEIR odds of winning would be 2/10 or 1/5. Do you see how I'm doing this now? I'm just converting the odds so that the numerator is 1. That's all. Whether it's 10 or 146,107,962, if you want to change the numerator or de

How Good is your SYSTEM?
Anybody can improve their odds of winning a jackpot by so much it's not even funny. I've actually told a few people I know this and they said No, you can predict something that's random, there is no formula to do so and then laughed at me. But the thing is, I don't even use formulas in my system. My system is purely elimination of non-winning sets . Sure, I'll admit that every now and then the system throws itself off, but that's going to happen no matter what system you use. I try to use alg

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
The odds of winning if one buys two tickets are cut in half. Whether those two tickets are purchased for the same or different drawings makes no difference, the odds are cut in half. Just as the odds are the odds, the mathematics are the mathematics. As was pointed out, 2::10,000,000 is the same as 1::5,000,000. That's math. Johnph77
Well, I don't want to keep getting into long discussions about this, but I'll try one more time. Thanks, Coin Toss. I'm glad someone here is paying atten

Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
If people really want lower odds then they had better get used to the idea of $2 tickets. Lowering the odds and having a $1 price would only result in much lower jackpots and lower sales. Sales are already in a slump for Megamillions. With these states trying to sell their lotteries telling them that what you want is even lower sales isn't going to fly.
If you wanted a $2 price and lower odds that could work. Euromillions has odds 100 million less then Mega but with larger pots.
Odds are

If a nationwide game comes along....
I have been thinking about this and if for some reason MM and PB merge into one game I don't think they would raise the odds more than what MM has now. 1 in 175+million is long enough odds as it is. But one thing they should do it raise the price from $1 to $2. They can keep the odds the same as Mega Millions and with the $2 price you would expect people to buy half the amount of tickets that they do now. Not only that but more money would be able to go to the jackpot and it would create Meg

Odds longer, prizes bigger as California joins Mega Millions
The odds of winning the Mega Millions lottery game got a bit longer on Wednesday, but the prizes also got sweeter.California became the 12th state in the Atlanta-based game, adding 36 million potential players that could swell the game's jackpots as high as half a billion dollars. At the same time, the odds of taking the grand prize were tweaked -- from one in 135 million to one in 175 million. We're not ever trying to hide the fact this is a very long-odds game, said Georgia Lottery CEO Margare

Someone hit mega - needs a fix

For a game where the odds are 135 million to one not even to hit it's odds as an annuity is a sign of a broken game. Something that th

Landmark bill would ban computerized lottery drawings in Delaware
Okay. I'm guessing their keno and instant tickets are the best payout percentages. It's interesting to do a little reading of state code and Lottery law. I don't know anything about NY lottery code, but Mass does not have a required return to the state like Delaware and PA. This means that they can jack up payouts on instant tickets and keno, while making it up on lower payout games like lotto. The key is deciding whether you want to play long-odds and expect very few winning experiences (typic

PB Drawing for Saturday 12-18-04
No, the odds of matching all 5 in a 5/53 game are 1:2,869,685. That never, ever changes.I've broken up the odds into a two-step analysis, pertinent to your challenge. If you manage to secure all 5 numbers drawn within your 10 selected, then you've got a 1:252 shot of matching all five on any given line. The second step is conditional upon the first. The If odds (having all 5 numbers) are 1:11,387.63888. The Then odds are 1:252. 11,387.63888 * 252 = 2,869,685 (subject to rounding discrepanc
