Does anyone know if there were many jackpot winners who really bought just one ticket?
Hi dallascowboyfan,
Thanks for that info. I read the article. It gives me hope that some people out there can win with the 1 ticket. The few times I've bought more than one ticket for the MM or PB it's been frustrating because I've gotten the right numbers bought spread across 3 or 4 tickets so won nothing.

Is there a waiting period after submiting a winning ticket?
Read an article where the winner, in Canada, was waiting for the thirty days to pass so she could get her winnings. This was sort of a special case in which the lottery found her through in store cameras and charge slips, etc. She did not have the ticket but they were awarding her the prize anyway, so the thirty day wait could be for that reason. I began to wonder if there was a waiting period standard for MegaMillions, Powerball or state lotteries. Never seen this addressed in any of the forums

N.J. woman wins $500 a week for life after buying lottery ticket in N.C.
The article says she purchased ticket at a Pilot Travel Center, not a Flying J. Yes Pilots are everywhere along interstate routes. Flying J...not so much. And they are not one and the same. I used to drive Over-the-road.
I think they use a multiplier of 20 or 30 to base lump sum payment. This is no different from the online games. The only difference is the scratch off games emphasize the monthly income amount whereas the jackpot games highlight the total annuitized amount.

California delivery driver claims half of $648 million jackpot
That was my favorite line in the article. Finally! I always get a kick out of the people who win millions and say Oh, I'll still work at Walmart. This money won't change me. Sure! Of course it is important to continue to do something productive and, if I owned a business, I might continue to be active in it. However, I can think of a lot better things to do than work for someone else in a store or a factory. Congrats to the winner.

Pennsylvania will not privatize lottery
Heres the truth behind this entire transaction (deal).By creating a private venture, the state can then change some rules, the biggest one being... State tax the winnings. We are currently one of the few states with exempt status. Yup a whopping deal of 36 billion to the commonwealth along with 6 percent or more from the players on winning claims. It would have been a backdoor way to pull a fast one on the players. It will happen , they will just find another way to cut a deal in the future deal

Do you sign your tickets?
Yes, it was brought up regarding a news article which prompted me to start this discussion because i thought it was worthy of discussion. My goodness Jon, i just can't figure out where you are going because clearly, the lottery is gonna do a verification process with every ticket presented.
Did i say anywhere that a verification process does not take place? My point was protecting your ticket in light of such stories where there are lost or stolen tickets that turn out to be winners by signin
