Strange way of announcing jackpot win
Last night the estimated Florida MegaMoney jackpot was $900,000. The game is parimutuel, so the jackpot is based on the number of tickets sold. It had rolled from $500,000 to $700,000 and then to $900,000. The winner has a choice of a lump sum or $45,000 a year for 20 years. One person hit last night right here in Naples and this is the press release. I just thought it was interesting, since that might be the cash value (before tax) I've never seen this before, so maybe it's an error. In Flo

24 year-old Calif. man claims lottery riches
I am very happy for this young man and hope he enjoys his winnings. I have a feeling though, he will come to regret that press conference. There are just too many unscrupulous people out there who will do their best to seperate him from his money. I have read so many stories about lotttery winners who say if they could do it all over again, the one thing they would do differently is to keep quiet about winning. I have noticed that on the California Lottery Website it says that they are requir

Colorado Lottery investigates 21-time prize winner
In response to myturn: It didn't sound like he was being drug through the mud. We know that this gentlemen didn't scam the system, said Colorado Lottery Deputy Director Tom Kitts. It was just an unusual occurance, said Kitts. My best guess is this gentlemen and his family probably play quite a bit... there's been an incredible streak of luck here as well. Looks like you might want to read the story again. Doesn't sound like the lottery suspects him of anything. Just unusual that he has wo

End of year analysis - QPs vs Self-Picks
I play both QPs and my own numbers for Florida Fantasy 5 and, after adding up all the money I spent and looking at my wins (all small) I won many more times using my own combinations vs the quick picks I purchased. I know this will always be a subject on which people disagree, since so many winners we read about bought quick picks, but one could use the argument that if 75% of lottery players used their own combinations, the majority of winning tickets would not be quick picks. I still feel w

Indiana Powerball lottery winners likely to remain anonymous
When you win millions of dollars it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that your lifestyle will change and some people will notice. People who know you, people who work with you. You know, the kind of people that pools are made of. If the people who won were involved in any pools, it's safe bet that other members of the pool(s) will notice, and get suspicious. If anybody who played in a pool thinks pool tickets were bought at the store where the winning ticket was sold they may just start payin

Lawsuit filed against Western Canada Lottery
On average a top prize is won after 50 percent of lottery tickets are sold. That means that 50 percent of people buying tickets are purchasing at a time when they can't win the top prize. The claim that has been filed is seeking damages of no less than $100 million, explained Merchant. They will just start printing or releasing the top prize later in the game. If they don't print or release it until half the tickets are sold now they are already manipulating the game. Just make it later and t

R N G means computerized drawings. I e-mailed the lottery yesterday inquiring what the switch over was about. I inquired if they were going to r n g drawings. They did not give a direct answer on it but refered me to the news release in their website.
