Florida Lottery joins Powerball
To OldSchoolPa - I honestly think the winners who say next time I'm spending $3 are asked to say that for the press release. The 2 people you are talking about won $16M (with a $2 ticket) and $12M (with a $1 ticket) Seriously, if you won $16 million would you care? I doubt if someone who just won $12 million by spending $1 buck on his family's birthdays is disappointed he didn't win more. The only people I hear that from are posters on this board! I don't think it's a dumb idea because it gen

Hello, I have a few questions in regards to the california lottery. I am sorry if the questions have already been answered but I didn't see them! Question 1: Do you have to give your name up if you won the california lottery? I read on the ca lottery site that it is required for them to release your name, but recently, I have been seeing people who have won and remained annonomoys. Question 2: How long does it take for you to get your money? do they wire it to your bank a

state taxes on winnings Q
Your residence and your tax obligations have nothing to do with whether or not you've agreed to a press conference (you have absolutely no control over a press release), or when you signed the ticket. Tax liability only happens when you have constructive possession of the income. You aren't entitled to a dime until the drawing makes you a winner, so you have no tax obligation until the drawing. That means that moving any time before the drawing isn't tax evasion, and the state you used to live i

As Fla. lottery sales slow, schools stand to lose
Tennesse should take heed of this news release of slower revenue. There was just a news article about tenn having a surplus in lottery money and looking to figure out what to do with it. Save it for the dry spell. Tenn could put the excess in interest bearing accts with the interest to go to school budget shorfalls.

Trivial suggestion...lol
I personally agree with you, but since I am not the author of the editor, there's not a lot I can do. I have built add-ons like the emoticons, the preview, the layout/styles, and the SmartQuote cleanup, but if I go and change the the core editor code, I won't be able to upgrade to the next release when it comes out. Another thing I personally would have done is to make the drop-down boxes longer, so they can fit all the entries without scrolling. You can see my work in that area by clicking t

New site updates
The thing that has really kept me busy is that so many of the changes I've been making lately affect many (or all) parts of the site, so it becomes very difficult to choose a point where I can consider cutting off more development and doing an update. And even then, making sure the changes haven't broken some other part of the site is very hard. I'm happy that I've finally been able to move all the editors used throughout the site to the same version. That means I can upgrade to the latest re

Lottery winner demonstrates the right way to claim a big jackpot
A good rule of thumb is that the creation and existence of a legal entity is a public record. How many details about that entity are considered a public record will vary from state to state. Generally it would be wise to figure that there will be at least one person that is the representative of an entity, and the name and address of that person will be public. That person can be the attorney representing the actual owner(s) of the ticket. It would be wiser still to consult an attorney when the

winning the powerball or megamillions
I wonder about that when I watch a show where a man sneaks around and cheats leaves his wife for the woman. Why is she so shocked when he cheats on her? Why do people in those movies like Goodfellas never think it's their turn to be whacked? My answer, like the majority here is no! If I did owe the government money, the only thing I wouldn't like is my personal business in the news. I can't remember when, but LP once posted a news release about a winner who had a lot of credit card debt and o

Rule #1 For Winners
Funny that the U.S. seems to have so many kangaroo courts. Regarding anonymity, it's been brought up many times in FL and they always release the name of the winner, his/her age and city of residence. The Lottery believes that it is the public's right to know. FL Lottery Results = Public FL Election Process
