If you won either the MM/PB: Would you tell your friends, especially close ones?
I live in a relatively small town in a non-anonymous claiming state, so friends and foes alike will know if I won. I honestly would not care who knew.
Just as with most everything else in my life, I've always preferred quality over quantity, so I don't have many friends but the ones I do have are good ones. I doubt I'd take anyone on an all-expense paid trip, but I'd love to be able to help a few who really need it.

$301 MILLION: Huge Powerball jackpot on tap for this week
I hope the winners will not be paraded in front of the world. They should be allowed to remain anonymous if they wish. With such a large win, it would be dangerous for their identity to be published.
I HOPE COMMON SENSE PREVAILS!

VIDEO: See what it's like to win a Colorado Lottery prize
This is totally awesome!
BUT... I would hate for it to happen at work so all my co-workers would know. I like being anonymous when I win.

My husband's brother won the lottery but hasn't offered to help us out.
Publicity puts pressure on winners to share a win with relatives. If the winner is not good at financial management, relatives can take advantage.
I like the UK Lottery's policy of allowing winners to remain anonymous and offering winners financial advice. US state lotteries should adopt such sensible policies.

NC lottery winner spent $9M bailing out convict fiancé
N. Carolina isn't one of those with anonymous claiming, but Ms. Holmes chose to give a news conference and television and newspaper interviews when she didn't have to do so.
Anonymity isn't the panacea a lot of people think it is, since a lottery winner is more likely to be killed by a family member or friend than a total stranger.

Weaning myself off of the lottery
I don't think punishment and self hatred will work for you.
If you are a problem gambler you might want to look into therapy and if that is not an option (because of cost) maybe join a self help group. Gamblers Anonymous?

Michigan lottery winner gives store clerk his car
Congratulations anonymous winner. You're smart to keep your privacy.
I like seeing the winning ticket. This one was bought 2 days before the draw. All qps.

$1M lottery winner admits stealing from cancer-stricken brother's business
My bet is on her being addicted to something like gambling, drugs, etc...
These bad winners make the news while good ones remain anonymous. If it bleeds it leads. There are more honest and trustworthy winners then bad ones.

Lottery winner's first purchase: a new shower door
If that picture is truly his shower
I'm going to take the absurdly dangerous risk of assuming that a guy who is remaining anonymous didn't invite the lottery over to take a picture of a shower door he's going to buy. OTOH, I suppose that's no less bizarre than including a generic picture of a shower door in the story.
