Illinois Lottery resumes selling Mega Millions, Powerball tickets

The Illinois Lottery has resumed sales of Mega Millions and Powerball tickets now that the state's budget stalemate has concluded, lottery officials said.
The state stopped sales late last month of the popular Powerball and Mega Millions games due to its inability to contribute to the prize pool without a budget in place.
Illinois Lottery Acting Director Greg Smith announced Thursday night that sales have resumed.

Friday the 13th is lucky day for Ohio lottery player
For the first time since 2013, a winning Mega Millions jackpot ticket has been sold in Ohio, lottery officials announced early Saturday.
Friday the 13th was actually a lucky day for one Ohio ticket-holder who matched all six numbers drawn Friday evening to win the estimated $200 million top prize. The cash value is $121 million.

$270 million Mega Millions jackpot won in Illinois

An Illinois lottery player won the first jackpot of 2015, worth an estimated $270 million in a Mega Millions drawing Friday.
The ticket, a quick pick meaning the numbers were selected randomly by the lottery terminal, was sold at Bucky's Express, 1202 Bloomingdale Road in west suburban Glendale Heights, said Illinois Lottery spokesman Mike Lang.
The store will receive a $500,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The second-largest Mega Millions jackpot prize in Maryland history was quietly claimed late last week.
The lucky Marylander bought one of the two winning tickets in the March 18 drawing for the $414 million Mega Millions jackpot. Va. store owner sells $3 million lottery ticket to herself
When Glinda Salgado heard that the winner of a $1 million Mega Millions lottery ticket purchased it at her family store in Herndon, she was excited.
She never imagined it was her own ticket.
The drawing, held on March 14, revealed that a winning ticket was sold at her store, Elden Market Deli but nearly two weeks went by with no winner coming forward.

$140M Mega Millions lottery ticket sold in Michigan

Friday night's single winning Mega Millions lottery ticket, worth $140 million, was sold in the Upper Peninsula town of Gladstone, Michigan.
The Mega Millions Lottery is offered in 35 states, and holds the record for the largest jackpot in North American history.

Calif. man claims $134M Mega Millions lottery jackpot
The multimillion-dollar man has been found.
California Lottery officials Tuesday announced the name of a man, believed to be a Long Beach resident, who has won the $134 million Mega Millions jackpot.
The winner has been identified as John Dalkos. Officials said Dalkos showed up at the Santa Ana District office on Monday afternoon to claim his massive prize. Dalkos declined to be interviewed, they said.

Oklahoma Lottery sales hurt by lagging economy
Lottery ticket sales declined about $11.3 million in the past fiscal year, mainly because of a downturn in the economy, Oklahoma officials said.
Powerball sales, which make up the majority of lottery sales, tumbled an estimated $7.6 million, partly because of the economy and a lack of significant jackpots, Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission, said Tuesday.

Powerball, Mega Millions explore agreement
Lottery behemoths Powerball and Mega Millions are discussing a possible arrangement to sell tickets for both games in the 42 states where they now operate alone.
The talks, however, do not appear aimed at combining the two lotteries into one super game.
