$75M Texas Lotto jackpot claimed by business partnership
Why anyone would even give their name if you provide the name of the company (being the legal entitiy to win the prize) is beyond me.
Jarrettac,
I can't say what the rules are in TX but in FL it doesn't matter how you claim the money - your name still has to appear on the press release and is available as a public record. Just because someone forms a corporation for privacy and/or tax purposes, doesn't mean he can duck under the radar if the state rules say otherwise. I had a business w

do you quick pick or choose your own numbers?
I don't know if I'm allowed to post the link, but I found information on QP statistics in Florida and am very surprised that the amount of winners using QPs isn't very high. I thought it would be at least 75%. Am I reading this wrong? This is the HTML version, not the .pdf. Everytime I read a press release I see Quick Pick but maybe I just notice it more rather when it doesn't mention it at all. I use my own numbers most of the time, but I buy quick picks as well. On a recent post in the

Michigan and its insatiable appetite for cash
Taken from a press release, Friday, April 20 at www.michigan.gov/lottery:
Sales for a new raffle game, Super Raffle, will begin May 7. The game will feature two prizes of $2 million each, 25 prizes of $100,000 each and 4,500 prizes of $500 each. Tickets will be $50 each and only 250,000 will be sold.
I never thought I would see the day of a $50 lottery ticket. This just goes to show you the greediness of those in charge of our beautiful lotteries.
Count me out.

$75M Texas Lotto winner a 'regular player'
I have seen winners announced in Texas where the lottery said that minimal publicity was requested. They would release the name and city, but nothing about the person's work, age, or anything else.
I remember one case where the winner was a limited partnership. A limited company was the managing partner and accepted the money. The family's lawyer was the president of the company and handled the entire thing. The family's surname was in the name of both the partnership and the company, so

Why Quick Picks win...Hint: It's *NOT* what you think, folks!
I won 3 games today, not big $ but all picked with different algorithms, no QP. Last time I had 3+1 on Powerball or Mega it was manual pick. When I had 5 of 5 it was manual pick. I can't even remember the last time I won anything over 10 dollars on QP. Anyone who thinks QP's are better often has weak algorithms in which case they're equal. If you play daily numbers games then especially avoid QP because the Lottery takes out 50% so there's no way on pure luck the vast majority of players would o

Who is the first person you would tell after you win?
The first person i would tell would probably be my attorney and i would ask him to also keep it confident. I probably wouldn't tell the wife and kids until after we were in a penthouse suite at the Hyatt regency hotel. Hopefully the place where i buy my tickets wouldn't start blabbering about my win. Since wherever you bought your tickets might have cameras you might want to have your lawyer call them and get them to sign an affidavit not to release your name likeness or other personal info.

Why the sudden concern with anonymity ?
I think people are too paranoid with this anonymity thing...everyone knows that most all celebrities, pro athletes, and top level business people are wealthy...those who run into trouble are those who 1) went looking for it (why frequent a night club at 1 AM when u know there are drunk people and opportunistic people all around...don't even start with the strip clubs and guns), 2) didn't surround themselves with a trusted team of legal, investment, and tax advisors, and 3) those who put out the

Why the sudden concern with anonymity ?
PS
If all the winners were anonymous, the news agencies would never 'cover' it anymore, and ticket sales would plunge. More people buy tickets when they see on the TV News or hear on the Radio News that the jackpot is 150 mill or more - especially when it gets over 200 mill.
They won't publicize it on the news if they can't publicize the winner: kinda imagine all the publicity leading up to the Daytona 500, seeing it in the news every day, but you are forbidden to release any results after

Tennessee 3/1 - 3/31
I sent an email asking how many test draws they do for cash 3 and 4.
They do 3 before each drawing and 3 after each drawing. Thats when the 1s are falling, smile.
That seems like a lot of test draws to me, but I don't know what other states do.This is done in front of an audit person from the firm.
If they don't release the ones soon I may start emailing every 5 minutes, I have way to much time on my hands......
