Canadian lottery winner fighting to remain anonymous
Anonymity for winners is not allowed by any Canadian lottery corporations, but Loto-Quebec in 2007 temporarily suspended the requirement for winners of amounts over $4 million to be publicly identified after police foiled an extortion plot targeting a Montreal couple who won $27 million.
Anonymous claims should always be allowed. That transparency excuse, is just that, an excuse. There is always something going on behind the scenes when large amounts of money are involved.

UK couple tell of £53 million EuroMillions win
This comment at the end of the Guardian's article is crazy. This is why so many do remain anonymous, who needs that kind of nonsense?
When one wins a lottery in which so many invested and won nothing, these kinds of jealous statements are going to be made.

Euromillions
Hi folks,
Once again a couple went public with there Euromillions win of 53m today even tough they had option to remain anonymous. As far as I can remember nearly everyone in UK with a major win on the Euromillions went public why is that? I heard you get some sort of help and financial advise if you do. You guys on this forum would love to have this option in USA. I personally would never do it no matter what help I would get.

States that offer winners the choice of anonymity
Unless something has recently changed you can claim the Ohio lottery annoymously but with a catch--only with a blind trust.
The response I received when I asked about claiming anonymously:
You will not be required to have your picture taken for publicity if you are not anonymous.
But in order to remain anonymous and ensure NO media or publicity, your prize must be claimed in a Blind Trust. To begin the process of a Blind Trust, you, or your legal counsel should contact the Legal

New York real estate broker claims $126M Mega Millions jackpot
Should New York Lottery winners have the right to remain anonymous?
Personal privacy or public accountability?
A story on a bill in the New York State legislature that would allow lottery winners to remain anonymous has generated a lot of comment today. The arguments go like this:
-- Lottery winners' names should be kept private to shield them from harassment and money grubbers.
-- Lottery winners' names should be made public to increase accountability of the lottery. If y

Why no tax on lottery sales?
One of the Aussies here ( I think it was savagegoose) once posted that in Australia a ticket is $1.03 AUSD, all the .03s has already paid the 'tax' for the winner (hence there is no tax).
Also the play slips have a NP box you can check, No Publicity. So no tax and anonymous, what more could you ask? The US needs to copy this.

Bill would allow N.C. lottery winners to remain anonymous
I have to give two thumbs up for NC
As for the poor excuses to not have anonymity for lottery claims, that is just inhumane. I am a huge critic of the lottery, and I support anonymous lottery claims. Even for people in states that win more often then any others.
