Michigan couple killed after lottery win
From another article: Tierra Evans denies her parents were involved in the sale of any drugs. And she says her father received social security checks but did well enough in the lottery to be able to afford nice things for the family. Right. The cops have it completely wrong. That money he was using to buy all those nice things wasn't profit from dealing drugs. He just happened to win far more than probability suggests.

Florida Lottery's repeat winners don't always come out ahead
I agree! We are the popular state for retirees. They play heavily which is why I often wondered why we don't win the Powerball more often particularly given the fact that we are one of the bigger contributors but the report from the state lottery and this article confirms the reasons behind that. The 3 and 4 ball games are far more appealing amonng that age group that has the time, energy and resources.

Question about Lump Sum or Annuity
GHolnyuk, Depends on who you read of course but I remember one article that said 50% of jackpot winners are worse off five years after winning a jackpot than they were before they won it.

Lottery winner recounts harassment after claiming prize
I went to a Walmart once and was not impressed. There was an article about a year ago saying the prices between Target and Walmart were about the same. But I love Target!!!!!!!!!! It is really good design. It is interesting though that Walmart is so big $ wise...they have 10X the revenue of Amazon (which I recently learned). And if you have something being sold at Walmart, they blow everyone else away volume wise (often more than all the other retailers combined, B N, overstock, Target, etc).

Man scratches a $1M winner, but lottery ticket was a misprint
Must have went to the wrong Mass Lottery facebook page because the one I saw was from Wikipedia. Ironic that in the article the lottery almost bragged about winning a lawsuit filed by a 94-year-old woman who wanted the cash option for her $5.4 million Megabucks ticket. You have some classy people running the Massachusetts Lottery.

Lottery leaders convene in D.C. to discuss future of games
Thanks for this interesting article, Todd. I hope that they would at least let you e-mail them a list of questions and then e-mail you back the answers; giving you the opportunity to ask deeper if they misunderstood or didn't fully answer a particular question. With yesterday evening's Powerball win, I noticed that all 5 of their winning jackpot tickets this year have been sold from the East Coast. Despair for we Midwestern state buyers!!!

Lottery winner donates apartment complex to help families in crisis
Mr. Smith just keeps on crankin' out the big hits! I remember reading the article about when he donated brand new trucks to the local Fire Dept. Those folks over there in WV are truely fortunate to have him as a part of the community.

Retired Illinois couple share $656M lottery jackpot
The article reads: Butler describes managing the money as a full-time job right now, and laughs: I'm not looking for sympathy, adding, There could possibly be a vacation. Yes, I think there WILL be a vacation this year, and I think it could even be a first class, all-the-way-around vacation for this couple and a few of their favorite people!
