"I can't believe it!" North Carolina man hugs store clerk after winning $2 million prize
He was presented with the choice of either taking the one-time lump sum of $1.2 million or annual payments of $100,000 over 20 years and chose the lump sum. After federal and state taxes, he collected a total of $864,126. I think it would be great if the prizes shown on scratch off tickets are the Lump Sum. If it's 2M thats what it is then take off taxes. Looks like everything must have an annuity version to make the prize look bigger and appealing. Congratulations on the win Sh

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
I am pretty confident that their estimation is too low. In the estimate file (published before Tuesday drawing), that were forecasting $94M sales for this coming Friday. But they sold $98M on Tuesday (that is +38% v. the prior Tuesday). So on Wednesday they will sell at least $113M (that is +45% v. the prior Friday - those percentages are now finally growing exponentially, given the jackpot levels). That means roughly +$18M in additional advertised jackpot (computed as +$28M of sale

$1.8 BILLION: Powerball jackpot now second-largest ever as ticket sales surge across the USA
Betcha all you MM downers and naysayers will put down $5 - for a ticket next week We're not going to know who's playing, but players spent $49.89 million to buy about 9.998 million tickets for Friday's drawing. The forecast for Tuesday's drawing is $51.94 million and almost 10.4 million tickets. The last time MM offered a jackpot this big an advertised jackpot of $361 million resulted in players spending $33.75 million for almost 16.9 million tickets at $2 each. The run before that got sale

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
I think they're underestimating the sales tonight and they're going to be closer to matching saturdays sales of 230 It looks like you nailed it after all, and for the first time in a long time sales for a Monday weren't significantly smaller than for the previous Saturday. The final jackpot is reported as $1.201 billion, which is very close to $230 million in sales. Not that it wasn't already obvious that 1.3 billion was conservative for Wednesday, but since we're now starting about $10

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
If a free ticket does not contribute to the jackpot, it is worth 35 cents. This is the expected value of winning $4, $7, $100, $50,000, $1 million, or $9 million. $9 million is the cash value (with today's interest rates) of the starting jackpot of 20 million . Of course, the actual value of a ticket is more than 35 cents if the jackpot is more than $20 million annuity, but anything extra is player money. The cost to Powerball would be just the 35 cents. With five lines and all 25+5 numbers

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
Sounds like your pool is hitting, but just not the big numbers yet. Just out of curiosity, and *only* if you wish to say, how many folks are playing in your pool(s) now and what kind of money are you playing with each draw now? Again, only if you wish to say. I am still in savings mode while waiting for the rollovers to make a really big cash value amount before I commit to a big purchase (or be committed!) . As of the week ending yesterday 07/26/2025 I have 86 draws skipped and $321.00 save

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
But, I am curious... Annuity or cash value , what would your target amount be? In all honesty, a $5M cash value after all taxes is a life changer for me and for 300 million other people. Having said that, it would be fun to win 100M. If I play PB with $2 and not win anything, it would hurt as much as saving $100 and putting it all in a 1B jackpot and win nothing. The loss would feel greater. I wish you luck with the strategy.

Good new on the MEASLY MILLIONS front... The cash value ticked up a projected $100K for Friday 5/22/26. Perhaps it's a sign of Bigger, Faster jackpots that the participants were advised of. Good luck to all that are players of this game. ANNUITY CASH VALUE 14) $195,000,000 $86,300,000 15) $215,000,000 $95,200,000 * up $8.9 Million CASH 16) $232,000,000 $103,800,000 * up $8.6 Million CASH 17) $251,000,000 $112,300,000 * up $8.5 Million CASH 18) $277,000,000 $120,400,000 *
