Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot is now $326 million. That was a good increase of $24 million - the biggest jackpot increase since the $5 ticket price was introduced. The difference between the Mega Millions jackpot and the Powerball jackpot increased by $8 million. Maybe the game will prove to be a success after all.

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot is now $243 million. The increase in the jackpot since the last draw was $20 million whereas Powerball experienced a $14 million increase. It appears certain that Powerball will not overtake Mega Millions until the Mega Millions jackpot is won. Now the wait is on. Will Mega Millions reach $1 billion in this run? Or will it be $2 billion?

New Mega Millions game reports 300% increase in non-jackpot prizes in first month
They should have done some polling to see how a price increase would go over with the players. Plus making bold claims before the price increase came about didn't help either. The old format produced jackpots of over 1 billion dollars twice a year plus many secondary prizes of 1 or 2 million. Hopefully things will change .

New Mega Millions game reports 300% increase in non-jackpot prizes in first month
The 300% increase vs. what those 1.89 million winners would have won under the old prize structure is incorrect. I'm of the opinion that the MM spin doctors failed to consider that 25 % of those winners would have purchased the Megaplier (conservative figure based on similar jackpots as reported by USA Mega) and taken home another $6.6M in winnings based on an average 3x Megaplier. That would give us a realistic increase of closer to 175%.

DC Lottery introduces Washington D.C.'s first $50 scratch-off ticket
They used COVID to increase the price point on goods and services. They implement tariffs to increase the price point even more. Now lottery is getting into the act. Outright greed is what this is. Heck that's five dozen eggs!

First drawing of new Mega Millions game produces 5X more winnings compared to older version
Glad to see that day one sales tanked. Perhaps in part due to no advance plays sitting in the system. Time will tell. The bad part is, the last time there was a $50-something million jackpot on 1/31/25, they paid out $1.5M more than they did on Tuesday. So they're raking in way more money, playing out way less and the increase in the two jackpots was identical. The only party that made out on the price increase was the game itself.

New Jersey Lottery increasing Jersey Cash 5 ticket price
It is all just unmitigated gall and greed at play here. A 100% increase in cost to play and a 30% increase in prizes does not resonate with most.

UPDATE: Proposed changes to Mega Millions game will raise ticket price to $5
They should have done something to increase the number of 2nd place winners. Maybe increase the number of bonus balls for the jp and lower the number range for 2nd place.

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Yes, it's very telling the advertised jackpot increase is only $10 M after 8 rollovers. Do you understand how the game and its financing work? Both PB and MM have always started with artificially high jackpots that aren't fully funded, and never had more than the minimum increase until there's enough cash to fully fund the jackpot. The smaller jackpot of the old format was funded quickly. With the new format the jackpot would remain artificially high for more drawings with exactly the same

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
The cash value is only running at 10% of what it would be when it was at $2.00 a line. What are you failing to say correctly? Both annuity and cash value are lagging behind previous runs, but the cash value, as always, is the percentage of the annuity that it necessary to pay for the annuity. Right now that's about 44.3%. Although the MM jackpot may be lagging behind previous MM runs it's well ahead of PB on a per drawing basis. When the previous MM run was hit on the 21st drawing the adver
