A mega decision for California Lottery?
The state lottery's 2005 entrance into multi-state Mega Millions lotto would become fully legal, and fair to gamblers and schools, under a bill approved Thursday by the Assembly.
At the same time, the Assembly said it is hiring a think tank, Los Angeles-based Milken Institute, to assess Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's push to privatize the state-run lottery. The move came after the governor briefed Democratic legislative leaders on the plan, aimed at yielding immediate cash to ease the state bud

Britain may become the online gambling capital
Britain may bring in legislation allowing London-listed Internet gambling companies to move their headquarters to Britain, taking advantage of the United States legislature's faulty attempts to ban the popular online activity.
Plans to turn Britain into a world leader in internet gambling have been drawn up by ministers, according to internal Whitehall documents.
In stark contrast to America, where online gambling has in effect been outlawed, ministers want to attract offshore companies

Connecticut considers allowing online lottery ticket sales

The company would then purchase tickets on behalf of others through the sales agent, and would be tasked with redeeming and distributing winnings.
This sounds something like what The Lotter already does.
Any company selling

Frist continues crusade against Internet gambling
Frist Fails to Piggyback I-Gaming Bill
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist's effort to attach prohibitive online gambling legislation to the FY 2007 Defense Department Conference Report (DCR 07) has yet to materialize. The conference committee on the Department of Defense (DOD) authorization bill reportedly removed Leach-type language from the bill.
A source close to IGN said he expects Frist, R-Tenn., to continue pressuring legislators to amend the bill, making use of provisions introd

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
The passage of a bill on the House floor by a 317 to 93 vote banning online gambling has failed to hurt gambling company shares. In fact, it seems to have done quite the opposite.
Both Sportingbet and PartyGaming's shares rose after analysts said the latest attempt to ban internet casinos would fail despite its overwhelming support by the House.
The Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act was co-sponsored by Republican congressman Bob Goodlatte, who has called online gaming a

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
Reps. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., and Jim Leach, R-Iowa sponsored the bill. They successfully beat back an amendment to strip out exemptions in the legislation for the horse racing industry and state lotteries.
beat back = blocked? eliminated?
strip out = remove?
exemptions = allowing of?
it would read successfully eliminated an amendment to remove the allowing of horse racing/lotteries. Meaning, the legislation HAS exemptions for horse racing/lottery which the Reps. PROTECTED... IF I
