Have self-serve lottery machines, but can't pay out any tickets? (Rite-Aid in Ohio)
All of the Rite-Aids in my area have the self-service lottery machines for both online games and scratch-offs.
For those of you not familiar with Ohio's machines, you can also check your ticket. If you have a winner, you can take credit in the machine, or else you can turn in the ticket for cash with a clerk.
Normally if its just a few dollars, I take credit in the machine and use it to buy my tickets for the next drawing.
Recently I won $70 in the Classic Lotto drawing. The machine won

Are vendors supposed to 'tape' tickets together?
Regarding the latex missing from the ticket from the machine ive ran into this before also. usually at small stores, where perhaps afterhours clerks make minute scratches in hopes they hit a number or something ?? they are usually as thin as a hair, but in groups and sometimes 50% of the ticket has these scratches....
ive seen them on monopoly and FMC, where perhaps they are looking for symbols ??
And when you go and confront the clerk, they just say the machine scratched the tickets.... y

Instant Machines!
I worked in a grocery store for 10 years. I can tell you the machine is just a way to get more tickets available. We only had room to keep about 15-20 behind the counter. This was a way to get another 20 games out to be played. I can also speak about TheGameGirls problem with the ticket cutting. It is the store who installs the tickets. I use to do it often. When you add a new ticket, you have to make sure to change how many inches between tickets that it cuts. For instance, the 100,000 Bingo is

What's with NY Sweet Million??
I have 9, 13, and 26, on the last line of the(QP) freebie, so far my take this week is SM-$9.00 PB-$20.00, deducting the cost of the tickets. my winnings amount to $13.
TakeFive: You got it now, that's what happened, the clerk tried to pass off Wednesday's rejected SM ticket to me on Thursday, I never thought about the player rejecting the ticket On Wed. because he didn't get the promo, I bet you are correct, you think like a detective, you should get a job with NY Lottery security (lol).

Lucky and unlucky Scratch-off ticket numbers
Good one on #30!!
Sometimes when I'm close enough to the next #10, #20, #30, #40, etc. ticket, I'll buy up to it. On the $5 tickets, none in particular, I've noticed
that the whole number (20, 30, 40 etc) sometimes will be the winner.
I'll have to look back on this thread but Coopery, there might be something more often with tickets numbered 076 on some of the $2 ones.
I've still been trying the Solid Gold (noticed the payouts went way down - no gold bars in sight lately) and did get

What's with NY Sweet Million??
Yes, you bring up all good points, it's easy to get scammed when there is so much confusion and the con men are always there to take advantage of someone, even I get mixed up sometimes about what games are on what days, or what day it is, sometimes I'll ask for MM on Wed. when I really want PB, and then I catch myself and have to tell the clerk I really wanted PB before she hits the computer keys!
Due to a confusing situation at a slot machine, I was a victim of theft in Atlantic City at the

I think I got ripped off
Bought a $2 scratcher and after looking, thought I won $20. I took it to the store and the lady scanned it then asked me if I knew how much I won. I said yes, $20, She entered $20 into the machine and it was rejected. She said, you didnt win $20. She tried $25, again it was rejected. She asked another worker for help. He looked at the ticket, scanned it and looked at the ticket again. I asked if there was a problem with the ticket. He said on tickets over $20, the machine didnt show how much was

New report criticizes Iowa Lottery security
The only problem that I ever had with the Iowa Lottery was with one of their retailers.I bought a $3 scratch off ticket from one of those machines and the machine took my money.Nobody at the retailer had the key to the machine so they couldn't open it up and retrieve my ticket for me and they refused to refund my money. When I got home I sent an email to the Iowa Lottery and complained about the retailers attitude. The Iowa Lottery sent me $3 worth of Lotto Bucks that could be redeemed at any Iowa

$10-Extreme Green
Wow, congrats! I won a ticket on Extreme Green yesterday so on the way home, I stopped at a kind of seedy looking gas station to cash it in. I traded it in on another Extreme Green and won $25. I figured since I had just had a winner I didnt dare buy another one so I put 5 bucks toward the drawing last night and bought a $20 Millionaire ticket. When I got to the third row, I hit a Jumbo, but continued to scratch as I like to save the winnings until the end. I ended up with 5 Jumbos...Going back

Lottery retailers busted in raid
I know when they run promo games at certain times I have heard the lotto machines play music to let you know you won a bonus ticket. Why don't every state adopt this as a normal routine to winning tickets of all sizes. That way, even if the owner of the ticket can not see the screen they can still hear the music or a computer voice saying You're a winner . It should not be that hard to make the whole machine shut down if the music or voice mechanism is tampered with or shut off. I would think th
