Do we really want all states to be able to claim anonymouslyReply
We need to copy Australia. Their playslips have a NP' box to check off........No Publicity. The U.S. states that do allow winners to be anonymous don't seem to be having problems with it, so why not other states?

You don't have to be anonymous to refuse to discuss your personal business with anyone, even if they are your relatives or call themselves your friends. I'm not rich now and if I ever won a lottery jackpot I can't think of any reason to start treating my relatives and friends any different even if they suspected I had come into some extra money.

You can't win if you buy a round for everyone in the bar you're a Flash Harry, and if you don't you're tight. It's the same with the bigger stuff if you get the nice car you're splashing your money around. If you don't, people resent you for holding onto it. This is exactly why I would want to remain anonymous. When you're poor, you can't please everybody. When you're suddenly rich, you can't please nobody.

Hope the PA assembly votes for this bill to permit lottery winners to be anonymous. Thought NJ allowed anonymity of big jackpots winners but Todd knows best since he is in N.J.

Anonymity is completely logical. Say you've had a succesful enough career that you live exactly where you want to live in the house you've grown to love. You win the lottery and they release your name, your city, the location of where you purchased your ticket and now it''ll take 30 seconds for someone to find you. I don't think it'll ever go dark. There are plenty of people out there who relish the spotlight and want their 15 minutes. Idaho Lottery does not require photos or any publicity other than releasing name and city, but go to their web page and it's plastered with photos of people winning up to 100K. You need to be proactive. The only way you can prevent people from trying to rip you off is to never let anyone know you've won. Winning the lottery doesn't have to be like painting a giant bullseye on your back. Take steps today to help protect your win tomorrow. If your State allows blind-trusts, then use that.
