One reason it's difficult to win...
I am an Engineer by trade and spend some time with the hobby of scratch offs.. Most people think that the lottery is a tax on those who have poor math skills. In my case that's not true :) I buy my tickets mainly in the PA suburbs and have noted a trend. I have purchased 30-40 whole books this year (mostly $10, $20, and $30) and about the same over the past few years. One trend that is real is that winning tickets rarely follow each other. They do at times; but mostly after a winning ticket a

found winner
Good job woody! Free money is good money...IF it is unsolicited I only have found money a few times...lottery related, I found a $30 $3 ticket laying next to the machine. The game was a complicated one and it was probably discarded as a loser, the scan box was covered but I could see the win plain as day. $20 on the floor at a supermarket. $10 on the ground at an amusement park. $5 outside CVS. $10 outside a gas station. A bunch of coins in a coinstar which I directed the nearest

Calif. man wins $10M lottery prize right after winning $1K
Just moments after winning $1,000 on a California Lottery scratch-off ticket, a Modesto man learned that he was the winner of a $10 million prize. Rodney Meadows was out running errands Nov. 23 when he decided to pick up some $30 California Lottery 30th anniversary scratchers tickets from the Fast Mart at 3955 Coffee Road in Modesto, according to lottery officials. Meadows won $1,000 on the first ticket he bought, so he decided to let it ride. [Meadows] scratched $1,000 and he came ba

[UPDATE] D.C. woman who tried to redeem faulty ticket admitted to forging second 'winner'
Told you she was trying to pull a fast one. Unless all the employees were new hires and their first day on the job was when this airhead tried to present and have her mangled ticket processed, there was no way she was owed any money. Clearly it was 2 different tickets. The IVM's need to be set when refilling a slot..there are different sizes in inches of instants. If a pack of $20's is loaded and the machine isn't set to cut that size, you'll wind up with part of a ticket o

The PA Lottery Ripped Me Off Again ... Part 2
Not sure if anyone is really interested, you may remember in May I posted about being ripped off and having trouble with a self-serve lottery terminal ... my Cash 5 numbers didn't print out right and I should have been charged $4 for four QPs but a $5 ticket printed out and the numbers were pretty much all the same. Anyway, today I go to a Sheetz self-serve terminal and had a card filled out to play three games for the Treasure Hunt for tomorrow. It should have cost only $3 for one drawing ..

Warning about the lotto vending machines, Illinois Lottery
Former lottery player? You can go to the machine at most service desks in a grocery store. You'll have better luck there if there is an error. Errors can happen there too like happened to me today but at least the clerk sees it happen. I handed over my regular cards today and the first run of the first card shot out a raffle ticket for $20....huh?? The card should have given me 5 tickets superstr8 for $3 each - total $15 for 5 sets of doubles. This was a regular - not new -

Stopped at the beer store to cash the $500 ticket, and they didn't have enough. I didn't want a check, so the lady suggested the grocery store down the street. She told me the always cash $500's so I figured sure. The bank was closed and I wanted cash. I noticed they had a new roll of the new $20 ticket, and it was on 003. So I bought 003 and 004. 003 - Loser 004 - $25 winner Took my $25 and left. Stopped at the grocery store, got my $500 and got a new $20 tic

Forums have been pretty slow, no surprise! The lottery is just not putting out the winners. I decided to play some today. I stopped at the local sheetz (figured I'd give the beer store a break) and bought $15 worth of scratchers and quick picks for the match 6, cash 5 and mega million (1 each) I got a $2 Valentine ticket that lost, a $3 cash up ticket that lost and a $10 10X the money that hit for $20 with a bill symbol on ticket 006. Took a break from my second jo
