Even if you play the lottery for years will you win?
A $2600 deductible is nothing..a drop in the bucket and gonna start looking pretty sweet should you get in a accident, have a heart attack or many many other health emergencies. I guess i have had enough health problems to see how small in the grand scope a $2600 deductible is. Those who go for the super cheap plan will have a higher deductible, but this plan is for those who have no health problems and was not meant for those who do, but all the same, $10,000 in the event of a serious health em

Do you sign your tickets?
If fraud is suspect and proven then no, it's not the final word. Lottery doesn't play sides, they follow the protocal of rules in place in the event such events occur.
Maybe we were reading two different articles because the lottery did do an investigation and awarded the money to the woman who found the ticket abandoned in the retailer's trash. It was a judge who went against the lottery's investigation and decision on the matter (why is not clear). Certainly will be interesting to see what

Do you sign your tickets?
Personally, i think if someone stole it and then realized it was signed, they would resort to plan B and then claim they found it with hopes of a reward for turning it in. I think in most cases, a signature would more then likely be visible and serve as a deterrent because it would be worthless to them and too much of a risk getting caught trying to claim a reward.
If you feel comfortable that your methods will prevail without a need to sign your ticket in the event your ticket is lost or sto

$550 MILLION: Mega Millions holiday bonanza!
It's simple probability. I can tell you you're not going to win, and the chance that I'll be wrong is a miniscule fraction of 1%. If somebody wins any time between now and New Year's eve the lottery will happily call it a Christmas miracle, and not many people will argue.
If it keeps rolling, even a very conservative estimate would put sales at 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 million. Being conservative again, that would mean the chance of not having at least one winner would be about 50%, 40%, 30

if invited to join a lottery pool at work: would you or not?
I might, but I think the occasional pool for a really big JP is better than an ongoing type,
and the rules must be very clear.
I think the occasional type is better B/C it's clear who is a member and who is NOT.
None of this stuff where someone says I'm in it why did'nt you cover me ?
No, each drawing is separate event !

Is Mega Millions paying ?? Or are the odds just too high?
JonD, we all know there is a 0% chance of a winner in a previous draw but the lottery (or at least MUSL) looks at the cumulative probability this way (see point 2 at the bottom of any recent official Powerball jackpot estimate sheet...they call it cumulative coverage ).
Also, prior to 10/22 draw was the old MM matrix, a different game with different odds, so it does not make sense to include those draws.
No, you're right, but it is possible to include draws with different odds because th

Positional Frequency Theory: Freqy Positions= The Master Key to Getting Consistent Straight Hits
I feel in order to be more accurate, you have to ask the question of why an event has a higher probability of occurring and what are examples of extreme events occuring. These kind of question lead you down the rabbit hole of greater accuracy.
Here's one method I'm currently seeing more accuracy using. This is the first time I'm telling anyone this because I'm refining it as we speak and I may make another prediction based on this method for the day draw coming up.
The mindset: Obser

Deadline passes: $16 million Powerball jackpot goes unclaimed
There is a lesson in this story or should say there are many lessons in this lost jackpot.
First, the State won it now that the owner has not claimed it.
Second, maybe they were afraid the jackpot would put them in jeopardy.
Third, they failed to check the ticket and threw it out by mistake.
Finally, maybe they were elderly and expired.
And surely our members can think of other scenarios related to this frustrating event.
