Jersey anonymity
No, but the state is considering allowing winners to be anonymous for 1 year after winning,
possibly encouraging more play.

Mechanic and his wife are Missouri winners of $588M Powerball jackpot
Yeah everyone is entitled to do as they wish after winning. Hopefully that bill passes in michigan to let the pb/mega winners claim anonymous. If not my family would be already out of state and my house completly emptied before I showed my ugly mug up at the press conference. Espescially with a jackpot of this size. And if someone wins the powerball tonight, congrats to them! Even though I would be happy I always considered that to be a slap in the face from the almighty lotto gods....LOL

Let"S Please...Stop The Madness
You should have more empathy.
YOU are certainly trying to remain anonymous by having a generic avatar!

snip right I'd be obsessed with being anonymous. I'd do anything to protect my kids. Guess not everyone feels that way!

Winning Powerball ticket in Mo. turned in
I always thought the most divisive issue here was public vs anonymous, or cash vs. annuinity.
QP vs SP is probably 3rd place.

Follow-up: Would you take MORE money to NOT remain anonymous?
I got a question since you bought that up....could you take the more money and decide not to remain anonymous??? Cause I don't care if I win I will rule the lottery it will not rule me and my motto is.....
I HAVE NO PROBLEM SAYING NO!!!!!

So you wake up Thursday morning and realize you are the sole Powerball Winner!!
I would still go to work the next day (I would not know if I won till the next day and the ticket would still be in my purse). So I would sign it and hide it till the end of the day in my desk (and tell no one) and make some copies. I would arrange a lunchtime/or late afternoon visit to a nearby major law firm and lay low for about 2 weeks to get things in order. If I won in an anonymous state, I could stay in my home, etc. If I won in a public info state, I would also arrange for a place to hid

Do you think we will ever see??
I'm not sure it will ever reach $1,000,000,000, but if it does I don't think I'd want to win that one unless I was in a state that lets you stay anonymous.
For that amount, that might still be a challenge.
