I was in several pools that was that way but I didn't know about it until after the drawing because the person made up or changed the rules to collect more money. I never entered their pools again. We never had any arguments because we never won over a few dollars. Those type of pools work fine until they win something because 1% of nothing is worth the same as 5% of nothing. Before I was retired I participated in several lottery pools at work. RJOH, you are correct. I only get in a pool at work when the Mega Millions is this high and we can draw up a big group of say 30 or more.We have no plan, no strategy, just hoping for luck.My wife had a group up with just 9 people at five per. That was 45 chances. I have bought Mega Millions tickets for groups in the past and I have tried two different approaches.One approach is to buy all the Mega balls. One time I collected $100 for the office pool and bought 104 tickets because I was guarenteed to win at least $4. This way one gets to buy more tickets especially for very large jackpots rather than spend the $4 in the following draw for a small jackpot. The size of the jackpot matters when dealing with office pools. The jackpot was so large at the time
