$1M lottery win was no April Fool's joke
Gary Noonan thought it was a nasty April Fool's joke when the clerk at his local Mac's Milk told him he'd won $1 million in the April 1 Encore draw.
The 50-year-old Perth man had gone in to the shop April 2, as he has nearly every Sunday for the past few years, to have his ticket checked and to faithfully replay his Lotto 649 numbers and Encore. But unlike those other times, the lottery machine began to spew out loud music and tickets. A joke, or a free ticket, Mr. Noonan though.
Instead,

$13m Lotto winner having trouble sleeping
A New Zealand man is having trouble sleeping after belatedly finding out he won $13.1 million in a Lotto draw last week.
The ticket for the Big Wednesday first division prize, the third biggest win in New Zealand lotteries, was sold at a Four Square in Thames but remained unclaimed until the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, took it into a Lotto shop to get it checked.
I had absolutely no idea that I'd won anything until I went and got the ticket checked and when it went through the

Lottery winner claims simplicity is key to happy life
Jim Hall from Troy, New York says he's the same man he was before he hit the New York Lottery for $65 million five years ago. He's got the firepower to prove it.But there's a softness the laid-back 67-year-old can't hide. You can see it in the house Jim and Vivian, his

Now, with their RNG machine connected to their central computer, a piece of code can be written to scan its database, find the number with the least amount of play, and then instruct the RNG to render that combination. This enables the Hoosier Lott

The Two Titans of the Lottery Industry
We often hear that the $40 billion spent on video games worldwide dwarfs the amount spent on the motion picture industry. But another form of mass entertainment dwarfs them both: the lottery business. According to a Morgan Stanley study, sales of lottery tickets around the world will top $160 billion in 2004.You should be thankful for the lottery business this week as you write a check for your tax bill. That's because you'd probably owe a lot more if not for your fellow citizens' crazed desire
