29 co-workers split $1 million Powerball lottery prize in New York
They are all from Long Island, except the one from Pa.
Fun fact: Queens and Brooklyn are both on Long Island, but are also two of the five boroughs of NYC. One of t hem will get to pay a NYC income tax along with the state and federal taxes.
I would fire the lot of them en masse
Just because a company is big enough to have at least 29 employees doesn't mean the managers are geniuses, but lucky for the employees they probably aren't morons that would fire somebody because of their o

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
My Friday MM ticket did not win me anything - I had a 2x on it.
I have my one PB QP for tonight. 238M is a decent amount and I would be set for life.
My plan if I won tonight would be to claim in January.
Put it all in a 12 month t.bill - that will give me 5M after taxes.
Keep working my current job for the next 6 months as I set long term plans.
Ooh, the dream of winning, always feels good

Powerball
I'd be plenty PO'd at myself too. For just one lousy dollar bill more, I could have had two million. I don't wanna be that guy.
Then there's this too - When I play PB, I play three identical lines of five numbers. Each line on my ticket will have a different PB (Red Ball) number. The pay out would be six million minus the taxes if I hit only all five white ball numbers. If I happened to have matched the PB too, I'd win the jackpot with the other two lines kicking in an additional 4 million.

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
Well, for me, not tonight, but I will on Friday if it rolls over today.
The 161.6 M annuity (yes I will take the annuity) is a great win. First payment of 2.4M is more than enough for 12 months. I don't see myself spending 200K a month
If I was to take the lump sum, 71.7M after all taxes is nothing to sneeze about.
So yes, I will be playing MM, but only when the jackpot gets to a certain amount (when the annuity is 100M) and only once a week, on a Friday.
My reasoning is that th

I saw your later correction and it is no problem. I seem to do the same thing in posts - hit the post button and then find my foul-ups.
I know what you mean about feeling the loss greater of $200.00-$500.00 or more all at once. It certainly appears to be more of a big spender kind of move, but it is exactly the same amount as playing one ticket each drawing. With me being a numbers kind of guy with a good measure of self-control I DO keep that in mind and so do not really let it get to me.

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
But, I am curious... Annuity or cash value , what would your target amount be?
In all honesty, a $5M cash value after all taxes is a life changer for me and for 300 million other people.
Having said that, it would be fun to win 100M.
If I play PB with $2 and not win anything, it would hurt as much as saving $100 and putting it all in a 1B jackpot and win nothing.
The loss would feel greater.
I wish you luck with the strategy.

$1.25 BILLION: Epic Powerball winless streak marches on
Let's say I win the jackpot on the next draw.
I take the cash option and walk away with $360M and some change
I put it all in a 12 month T bill at 3.4% PA
After taxes I have $7.7M.
Now the question is what do I do with $7.7M in 2026.
The interest is an insane amount of money.
One thing I know I would do is travel, travel, travel - all the 7 continents would be on my list.
I think I would buy an RV and hit the road.
Ooh if only my QP numbers come up

$1.1 BILLION: Powerball jackpot increased in longest-ever winless streak
O.K. here I go again with hopefully a clearer worded question:
I live in a state that taxes lottery winnings
I live next to a state that doesn't tax lottery winnings
If I purchase my tickets in the non tax state ....
and WIN the jackpot .. ..
and move to the non tax state and establish citizenship ..,
and then claim my winnings .... am I taxed in my former state?
Thank you
Have a shaggy day

New York man turns grocery run into $3 million lottery annuity
Winner opts for 20 years of payments over lump sum
By Kate Northrop
A simple visit to the grocery store turned into a $3 million annuitized payday after a New York man decided to buy a lottery ticket.
A New York man won a $3 million top prize on a scratch-off ticket he purchased at the supermarket, a prize that he decided he would take full advantage of.
Kurt Kelleher of Shirley was at King Kullen on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley when he thought to try out the New York Lottery

Mississippi Lottery triples all Cash 3 prizes for November
what's going to happen is what if select numbers are sold out
Then you might only get a 98 or 99% chance of a guaranteed profit.
The $1500 won't be taxed federally but it counts as income
Unless your marginal rate is more than 33% (in which case you probably won't be bothering to win a $500 profit here and there) you get a profit even without any deductions. If you itemize you get to deduct 90% of what you've spent, so winning $1500 only results in $600 of taxable income. At a mar
