Kansas Mega Millions winner claims jackpot anonymously
As far as people bothering the winner, that all depends on who you know and where you live mostly. But we only hear the few negative stories in the media, that is what makes the news. Not the thousands of boring stories where none of the winners were ever bothered, or robbed etc. People only read those and then become over paranoid thinking that the whole world will now be watching their every move. Please, no one cares or will care after about a week. So this whole anonymous thing is just BS an

Kansas Mega Millions winner claims jackpot anonymously
Congrulations to the winner! I would remain anonymous also. Too many stories about winners being bombarded with requests for handouts. That puts you and your family and close friends at risk. I too would have a permanent smile on my face. God bless them.

Maryland Lottery officials inundated with Mega Millions rumors
Interesting. That claim is as likely as the McDonald's lady's claim. I'm not sure why his mother would out him though. He might've liked to remain anonymous...

Not lovin' it - what do u think about this whole situation
I doubt that she won, but either way she sure blew remaining anonymous in Maryland, a state that allows it. A few people here on LP from Maryland have mentioned that she's in a rough area to begin with, not too smart at all.

Maryland Lottery officials inundated with Mega Millions rumors
Thanks for the update ttech..... I sure do hope she has pulled her kids out of school, this is becoming very dangerous for her her family. Maryland allows lottery winners to go anonymous, why would she jeopardize someone harming her her children. What kind of mother would do that......

$356 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot nears record
This one will be increased before the drawing on Tuesday. $255.1 million be $175 In GA. But i doubt 1 ticket will win it this time. Yes I don't see how you wouldn't seek advice for money like this. I thought a blind trust was to keep anonymous? Wouldn't you just put your lawyers name as beneficiary are revoke his/her power after they collect? Keep your name out of the papers. I'm not gonna give the money back if I can't but i'm gonna do everything I canto stay hidden.

Paranoid...or Prepared?
I could count on one hand the number of people outside of my wife kids that I would tell. I would move to the sticks and get myself a few very large dogs, better than any security system IMO. I would definitely buy several income generating rental properties as well as fix up houses and flip them when the market rebounds. I would do a lot of charity but it would be anonymous. For myself, I would have to take the trip to vegas and buy in to the WSP while letting the wife have a blast on the slot

would form a trust to claim a 2million pb prize?
PB doesn't offer an annuity for matching 5 numbers because $2 million is the actual prize. If the winner wants to purchase an annuity after taxes deducted, they can and chose the number of payments. Trust are created to help the winner remain anonymous, but in some states the name of the owner of the ticket is still published. As we learned from the Hot Lotto controversy in Iowa, their rules require the name of the winner or they won't pay.
