N.Y. Lottery's Yolanda Vega celebrates 20th anniversary with the state
You're right mj. I just re-read the article. I mistakenly based my post on the false assumption that she was the director. $85 K a year certainly is nothing to sneeze at for announcing the numbers.

Does anyone here know what happened to Brad Duke?
Yeah, this is pretty much the best and most detailed information I found on him. But this article is a few years old. I guess he's really found a way to lie low. Good for him

Friend charged with hiding lottery winner's death
That woman, Dorice (DeeDee) Moore, was charged Tuesday with trying to conceal the slaying of the man who disappeared after winning millions. On Wednesday, a Hillsborough County judge ordered her held on $1 million bond. The dead man, Abraham Shakespeare, was last seen in April - more than two years after he took a lump-sum payment of $17 million on a $30 million jackpot. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianpress/article/ALeqM5gkCtDG6R13FvTKjRlNvvcu9vKlWA

Lottery winner lost money after investing funds
I think the point of the article is that even a lottery winner with a good head screwed on his shoulders, who invests the money fairly wisely instead of just blowing it, can still lose a substantial chunk. Think of it as a moral to the story: if you win, even if you keep your head, be prepared to lose. But if you lose your head, you are certain to lose it all.

Is this true?
Thanks, Todd. The article did mention that a 'citation' was needed. Not sure what that means. In any case, glad to hear that this is not true! Thanks so much!

Multi-state lottery options will expand in 33 states
Here's what I don't understand: if Vermont is going to sell Mega Millions (and don't get me wrong, I hope they do!)...then why haven't I heard anything from the Vermont Lottery or any other news source save for the CNN Money article posted here earlier this month? Their web site and the local news outlets have been silent on the matter, and thus far these two articles have been the only evidence I've seen that Mega Millions is coming to my home state. So, Vermont Lottery: if you've got it, wh

Dual multi-state lottery sales may keep jackpots lower
The question should be will the other states increase their profits? because to play the extra jackpot game twice a week the, players will probably play less on other lottery games. The increased profits come from occasional players who don't play until a jackpot is huge and as the article said the average size of winning jackpots should decrease. Will more money be spent on both games or will the same amount of money (or even less) be distributed between the two games?
