Lottery winner buys Fort Myers business
Well, maybe things will start to improve around here, but many businesses are shutting their doors in the areas mentioned in the article. So I wish him a lot of luck success. It's great to hear about someone investing the money he won back into the community. He certainly won't have any trouble finding people to fill job openings! Why anyone would want to open up a store in Lehigh is beyond me, but what do I know?

N.J. Lottery to add Powerball?
The article said it would raise $10 million. Is that per month? I mean that would be a very low estimate for a year...especially how well NJ sells Mega Millions. If this does happen I can definetly see a merger of the two games on the horizon.

10 N.J. co-workers will split $216M lottery jackpot
According to the article the O guy did tell Space before the drawing to count him in. So Space did the right thing going to O after the win to give him the chance to pay up.
If the others opted out before the drawing, tough luck. REAL tough luck. LOL.

Dream big: Mega jackpot for tonight is $103 million
If you read the story then you probably noticed the link Play Mega Millions Online at the bottom of the article. I used such a service when it was the BigGame and I had to go out of state to play (never won anything). After the name was changed to MegaMillions and it come to Ohio, I didn't need to.
You have some nice jackpots to play for in Canada even if you can't play in the U.S. Good luck to you.

Woman claims Publix cashier threw away winning lotto ticket
Smoothjuice- You might want to re-consider reading the entire article. The lady HAD the ticket. It was the clerk who kept it , tossed it or misplaced it. Once the lady turned the ticket over, short of her jumping the counter for it back, it was the clerks duty to return it.
For Publix's to ban the lady for speaking up on a matter is extremely poor customer service and BAD publicity.

Woman claims Publix cashier threw away winning lotto ticket
While possible, I doubt that it's anything more than an honest mistake, since the woman was given the receipt and continuation ticket. That would mean nobody has stolen the ticket with an intent to cash it, but somebody could potentially find it in the trash. Since it's not the only winning ticket, how would anyone else know it's the same ticket? Though the article didn't say, the lottery has presumably listed the ticket as paid so that it can be recovered if somebody does try to cash it. As duc

Lottery win bad news for gas station employees
Maybe if those clerks had given the type of service that Jorma Hogbacka (the Canadian 649 winner) of St. Catherines got from the waitresses at Tim Horton, the winner of the $25.5M jackpot would be looking them up to give them a check for $30K too.
Yesterday, Hogbacka gave Melissa Grivich, 24, of Welland and Sithorn Chuon, 24, of St. Catharines their tip, a cheque in the amount of $30,000, scribbled with the words Have a nice day on them. http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/266200

The Law of Large Numbers
This is from an article in AARP about miracles.
The Law of Large Numbers shows that an event with a low probability of occurrence in a small number of trials has a high probability of occurrence in a large number of trials , says Scientific American coulumnist Michael Shermer, author of Why People Believe Weird Things (W.H. Freeman, revised, 2002). Events with a-million-to-one odds happen 295 times a day in America.
