CA and Mega Millions
CA paid only $1 for matching only the Mega ball in the recent (Nov 18) Mega Millions draw. Normally the payout is $2. The $1 payout has happened a total of 8 times out of 43 draws. In each case the Mega ball was 11 or below. Interesting to note that 3 out of the 8 times, the Mega ball was 11. This may be a favorite number in CA.A good strategy for CA players is to choose larger numbers for the Mega Ball to get at least a $2 payout.

Forget Powerball - Go for Mega Millions
Like everyone, I have been caught up in the Powerball frenzy. Why forget about the Mega Millions? It is sitting there at $90M maybe someday money and $53M real money. How much do I really need? I'm thinking that $53M, minus some chnage for taxes, would go a long way to finding Uptopia. Besides that, with a win, I could sneak in, under the radar of all the Powerball hoopalah, and no one would know I even exist. Is there something unclean about $53M? No one seems interested in it.

Have you cutback with longer odds?
In a way, I have cut back. Under my old ticket buying system, I played both Powerball and Mega Millions, although not both at the same time. I always played whichever one had the higher jackpot and bought two if the jackpot was >= $75 million ($90 million for MM after they went to 1 in 175 million) and three if the jackpot was >= $200 million. However, since both games increased their matrices, I'm playing only Powerball (since I live in Iowa), and its jackpot now has to be >= $100
